there’s a way you can put it, nothing can be assailed. Success stories encourages people.

You are right though, I would say what I saw this year as savings I never saw it in all my whole adult life put together, it was massive for me. It may not be for others when actual figures are mentioned but I must confessed all my life put together I haven't seen the figures I saw this year. Same figures and even more is almost assured for year..

Interestingly this is my first year of turn around, the previous year didn't even make anything close to 5 percent of that figure.

You're lucky you did something worthwhile with your earnings, I can't even point to one thing I did that is tangible, life and it's struggles continues sha, it only ends when you die.

You can use your statement of account to track what u make monthly. My access bank account does that
Uba doesn't have that feature plus I'm not a salary earner, my earnings come from here and there, difficult to track anything, I was able to track my spending because Uba made that possible, otherwise i wouldn't even know how much I spent too.

I'll advise nairalanders to be cautious of what they read here. A lot of people will start claiming what they aren't. Hard to save in this economy If you don't have a good paying job. I earn roughly 100+ in a month but hard to save 1 naira. I even spend more than my income monthly. Cost of living is crazily high in Lagos. How you want save self ( tfare, house rent, electricity, miscellaneous, feeding, children school fees etc. Let's stop lying abeg
You cannot generalize based on your own experience. There are people who are making legitimate money as we speak. Some are even making more money than they used to before this administration.
True, most people suffer as a result of the current economic situation, but some have become richer as a result of the same factors.
For example, if you have a contract with a foreign organization (working remotely); you will get paid in US Dollars or British Pounds or Euros; but you will pay rent, school fees, transport fare, feeding expenses, etc in Naira.
How will you not save money?

Sir go get yourself a pigyvest account and read financial books, they'll teach you frugality

When I hear people say they don't know how to save, I'm tempted to shout gamblers.
Lack of frugality is simply an act of gambling with the future

Do well to read financial books.
Richest man in Babylon
Millionaire nextdoor.
Rich Dad poor dad
The psychology of money

And get yourself a pigyvest account (with pigyvest they'll automate your savings and make withdrawal difficult)

Or try fixed deposit, but pigyvest interest rate is higher than any bank interest rate

Please we shouldn't gamble come 2024.
Nigeria is too erratic for someone to live without savings

It's not only people in Lagos that are commenting here, Lagos economy is different. U can save 200k a year and still live moderately comfortable anywhere in the middle belt or North from that ur 100k+ salary... I earn like u, I have 200k now as savings. If not do my health it should have been 300k+

Fixed deposits should help, from Jan you can start locking small portions of your income every month, you'd be surprised at how much you'll save by the end of the year. I plan on doing same
