In response to the rising concern of counterfeit drinks circulating in clubs and restaurants across Lagos, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mr. Idris Aregbe, issues a stern warning against the sale and distribution of fake drinks in the state.

According to him, the prevalence of fake drinks poses a significant threat to public health and safety, prompting intensified and coordinated efforts by his office to eradicate these substandard products from circulation. ‘We call upon all clubs, restaurants, and public places where drinks are sold to exercise due diligence in ensuring they do not purchase or serve fake drinks to unsuspecting consumers.’

Collaborating with the office of Mr. Ononiwu Francis Ezeribe, Director, Investigation & Enforcement, National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), and Lagos State Safety Commission, the Special Adviser assures the public of a comprehensive effort to eliminate fake drinks from the market. Speaking further, ‘We implore the cooperation of all stakeholders to create an environment where consumers can enjoy beverages without compromising their safety’.

He is also working with Lagos Safety Commission led by DG, Mr. Lanre Mojola. According to Lanre Mojola, this is a laudable initiative from the ministry of tourism, arts, and culture and a furtherance of Governor Sanwo-olu’s commitment to the safety of lives.

‘We urge drinks manufacturers to take a proactive role in public enlightenment, guiding consumers on how to identify genuine products. Proper labeling, packaging, and distribution channels should be emphasized to enhance awareness and ensure the authenticity of beverages.’

To enforce this, the Special Adviser warns that any entertainment venue or gathering found serving or selling fake drinks will face immediate closure, with the suspension of their operating license. He mentions that stringent measures will be taken to safeguard the well-being of Lagos residents and visitors.

He discloses that the ministry is working with other relevant agencies to ensure full compliance with eradicating fake drinks.

Speaking further, he wishes Lagosians a happy new year, ‘As we embark on this crucial exercise, the Special Adviser wishes everyone a Happy New Year and emphasizes the importance of collective responsibility in ensuring a safer and healthier Lagos.

The Special Adviser re-echoes that the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture is committed to promoting and preserving the rich cultural heritage of Lagos State while ensuring the safety of its residents and visitors.

"LASG HAS ZERO TOLERANCE FOR ADULTERATED DRINKS. SAFETY COMMISSION WITH MINISTRY OF TOURISM PARTNERS WITH NAFDAC.

The Director General of the Safety Commission, Mr. Lanre Mojola, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Idris Aregbe issued a joint statement at a meeting held in Alausa, condemning the proliferation and sale of adulterated drinks in bars, lounges, and nightclubs across Lagos metropolis.

According to the joint statement, they have been alerted to the sale of adulterated drinks in night clubs, which has posed unprecedented health risks to the well-being of the public. They said the act is condemnable, irresponsible, and wicked, and urged everyone to "love our neighbors, cherish and value lives."

Mojola said the government has zero tolerance for the sale of adulterated drinks in bars, lounges, and nightclubs.

He noted that the sale of adulterated drinks has become rampant and is harmful to the safety and well-being of fun seekers.

He disclosed that the Commission, along with the Ministry of Tourism and relevant agencies, will collaborate with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration (NAFDAC) to ensure Lagos is safe for all and sundry.

He said they will conduct regular and unscheduled visits to night clubs to curb the menace and sanction erring night clubs."

Good move.

Infact, you can't trust the source of most fruit wines these days.

Wonder why the adultrators spend so much to counterfeit known products with dangerous chemicals that may end up killing their kit and kin.

The love of money is truly the root of all evils

And every rich man in iboland must have sold drugs, from Jim Ovia, Elumelu, Obi Cubana, E money, Chiefpriest, Arthur Eze, Orange drugs, Peter Obi Gringory.

There is no single ibo billionaire that hasn't sold drugs especially those from the land of desperate ones, Anambra.

Jim Ovia should not be listed among those names because he is NOT Ibo. He is an indigene of Agbor in Ika South LGA of Delta State and he is Ika. The name Ovia is an Edoid name meaning "God of iron." The Agbor people have strong ancestral ties with the Edos even though they are part of ANIOMA.

Tony Elumelu is also from Delta North and his biological mother is from Onicha Ugbo in Aniocha North LGA, which is the same local government where you'll find the 6 Olukumi towns such as Ugbodu and Eko Efun (otherwise called Ukwunzu) consisting of people whose ancestors came from Yorubaland via Benin and Esanland several centuries back.

They don't care if the chemicals they use are harmful or not. All they are after is maximum profit and extreme wealth.

Nigerians are extremely wicked and greedy

It's not only the SE that are guilty of the crimes!
Many other tribes are guilty of cutting corners to earn more!

The farmers that add dangerous chemicals to grains for preservation and still sells it while it's dangerous for consumption!

The farmers that inject animals with antibiotics, etc that are still much in the animals when sold. This drugs are toxic to humans!

And there are many more variations of the above!

The list of things people will do to get money by all means,is longer than the world's longest snake- the gigantic reticulated python of SE Asia.
A person who can manufacture fake consumables to distribute and sell,is on the same footing as an assassin, and those caught doing that shouldn't be spared at all.
These animals are endangering the lives of others out there, using chemical substances which can damage the liver, kidneys intestinal linings, cause cancer of various types,in people.
The government agencies including NAFDAC should increase their surveillance and checkmating efforts on the menace of fake consumables.

Benin Landgrabber stay clear of Delta North and go do your Landgrabbing elsewhere. Jim Ovia and Tony Elumelu are proud Igbos and if it pains you then use a rope. Imagine how you jumped into an innocent thread to display your ignorance.

You can't tell Anioma people where they belong by bringing up ancient migration which no base. If so, then many tribes in Yorubaland won't be called Yoruba today since they migrated from the so-called Benin empire mostly those in Owo Ondo state. In addition, we might begin to call Benin people Yoruba's since Oranmiyan migrated from Ife. We can also call many parts of Isoko Igbo's too since many migrated from Igboland. But you'll never see Igbos do this since they've now ethnically assimilated with their host tribe. Only you lots from Benin are champions of landgrabbing in a bid to bring back a dead Benin Empire that was built by the Portuguese.

Unlike you Benin's, Igbos don't landgrab tribes we are not related with. We are only concerned with those that share ethnic affiliation with us in Language and culture and the colonial masters have long carved Nigerian ethnic groups accordingly before independence. Therefore, anybody looking to landgrab tribes in this modern age is simply wasting their time and you Benin's should be very careful.

Second, I observed your falsification of Jim Ovia's surname which you think is Benin since it’s sounds so. For your information the Ovia you think is Benin is a pure Igbo name. It's just a dialectical differentiation from Central Igbo Ohia which means forest. Now it takes different forms and becomes Ofia, Ovia, Ohia, Oshia in several parts of Igboland. While it's called Ovia in Ika, Aguleri, Awka, Ohafia etc, it becomes Ofia in places like Onitsha, Asaba, Nkpor etc. Additionally, the Ovia is similar to names like Isibor and Irabor which are deep Igbo names that many of you in Edo now bear and think are Benin names.

Third, The 6 Odiani clan which you rightly called Olukunmi are proud Igbos from Aniocha. The only thing that connects them with Yoruba is simply migration. They are proud Igbos and are part and parcel of the Igbo nation, sharing one destiny with us from the pre-independence, to the civil war to modern Nigeria. Anybody looking to grab must first cross into Igboland and will get a proper response not from us but the Odiani people themselves.
