Some are descendants of the colonial masters. Some were brainwashed by abusers of religion to believe their native names attract misfortunes. Only a very few of them actually have despicable natives names.
stop being ignorant , many of our ancestors worshiped idols
And these so called idols are demons which causing poverty and misfortune to a lot of Nigerians today

It equally occurs in the West. Lagos family names below are just a sample:
Glover, Bucknor, Vivour, St Matthew Daniels, Lewis, Savage, Randle.

You did not understand the brief before talking.

Question 1: What percentage of Lagos family names are like that?

Question 2: How many of the people with these family names also use English first names?

Can you name the idols in your tribe that are there to cause poverty and misfortune?

While you are at it, can you tell us how you came up with that conclusion?

U can't naaaaa....Hebrew or English names are not native Nigerians names....they are borrowed names .....their great-great grandfather's dropped their native name long time ago...

Although some Slavery-driven English names like savage, buknor, are known to some Lagos indigenes.......other than that,....u can't just know the origin of folks that their ancestors changed name for religious, fancy or personal reasons to English or Hebrew names if they don't tell you....

You know, when having a conversation or referring to a person, you don't go about calling the persons surname but the name, imagine using English names with no obvious identity of his tribe, that's why I prefer our names to English, and when abroad, they are always fascinated with names different from the usual English names when they hear it, that's why I respect Indians, they do not compromise or water down their identity no matter where they are.

Well, I see names as a mare personal identity that shouldn't be attribute to tribal identity. What matter most is the meaning of a name. I used to think same way before, until I became more Liberal and understanding. I focus more on the meaning of a name irrespective of the language it being called.

If someone is called JOY or MERCY and another one is called AYO or ANU, should we say JOY or MERCY Is bad just because it being called in English? Aside that, English is our second language, and has became part of us. Have you ever seen a Nigerian parents naming their child " chun Chin' or Tiago?

This is not a stone age when people were more obsessed with their lineages. People borrow your culture, identity and traditions when you are at advance stages of civilizations. Besides, what is so honourable in accepting or speaking a language but rejected names that comes with it?

Seriously, where are they from? I remember we give names from our dialects. Some people have English names but only as first names or preferred ones. Their ‘native names’ dominate all of their official documents. In the given examples, those English names and surnames are their official ones.
those you mention are still normal names, come to Niger Delta and see names like Heineken ,government, furniture, kitchen, spanner,,etc

So, you pulled out that claim of "demons that cause poverty and misfortune" from your ass based on the brainwash fed you from your colo-mentality religion of fiction?

White gods are real, true and the saviours; Black Gods are fake, dangerous and the demons? I have been told that, and it is the fact.

And, looking at your history, you are the one going around NL telling people they "have low IQ", "loosed screws upstairs", "are mumus/mugus" etc.

I knew when I was phrasing the question that you could never have the IQ to answer it, so your dodging answer was not a shock. When people pull idiotic opinions from their asses, I can spot it instantly.

You believe your nonsense fiction book that said a man used his bare hands to kill a lion by tearing its mouth apart.

You are a genius and very knowledgeable believing such. Your yeye white god is the best and great; and you have been told the black ones are demons.

Some have those surnames because when their grandparents went to study in missionary schools within and outside the country, they were encouraged to change their surnames because they were related to deities or gods, so they took up biblical names instead and also because they were easy to pronounce by the foreigners.

You want them to bear Ayo, Chinedu, and Adamu so you can use tribalism to finish their destiny?

If I have my way, I will avoid all native names from Nigeria's major tribes (Yoruba, Igbo, and Hausa).

A Mark John is more likely to get a University admission from any Southwestern University than a Chinedu. A Jenifer Confidence is also more likely to get a job in Igboland than a Nurudeen Ayoola.

Nah! What I know is the quality of, and I can gauge, your brain power (IQ level) to belief so intensely in the nonsense fiction you have been fed and brought to you by your superior whites.

I see many of your like in Nigeria. Those who have gladly abandoned the use of their brains and leave everything to some fictional, "all powerful" yeye god that has not done anything in their society, but yet, they still keep relying and depending on this "great" god and advocating "Only him and prayers can do it". Then you are running left and right to gather money for visa to Japa.

Yeye, imaginary, useless god!

Loneliness?

Am I the one that is not mentally balanced and think some fiction, useless god, whites have forced his ancestors to accept, will be saving him? grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

Someone is regurgitating some low IQ shyt and terms like "carnal knowledge" that he has been told and brainwashed with and does not challenge, yet is talking about mental illness. Religion is your mental jail, son.
