Excuses some people here give for rubbish football games, they won't take such if it were their football clubsthat they support o. Is it a virus to be winning friendlies and winning in tournament proper? Is such back2back run of form a taboo for the Nigerian national teams since 2000s? Are you not tired to be the only national in Africa consistently using that silly excuse for the national team? Besides, the inference from that shows we are clowns. Yes!!

We should win friendlies is such a taboo that if we win them and can't replicate in afcon, you'll say they overdo.

If dem lose friendly and win in tournament, you'll be beating your chest that "they think say na friendly we come do here!"

Up the standards abeg. Demand more.
They should be balling approximately to the standards not blowing hot and/or cold when it matters.

There are strikers who can replace the duo of Boniface and KC.
Jpes should do the needful.

It is what is it is, the injuries should be properly assessed and if there's not enough time for both guys to recover and contribute to the tournament, they had better replace them asap. Gift Orban and Akor Adams should be called in then, not sure about club protocols at this time though. Also Luku could play as a striker/false 9 if we have too many injuries in the tournament without suitable replacements.

We can’t even win pre tournament friendlies again. Imagine Guinea beating us 2-0. This is what happens when we employ the wrong personnel. Still wondering how Pinnick settle to JP after all his consultations. We left Rorh for JP. Frying pan to fire πŸ”₯

Lol...didn't some people said SE are the favorite. You want to plant apples and pluck oranges.

The failure of the national team begins with having Tinubu as your President. Nothing good comes from criminality.

I will be shocked if SE makes it to semi finals.

The coach is trying different players and different formations. They should let the team breath!

You spit a lot of nonsense! As at the start of this season, Nantes wanted to sign Awaziem and Porto wanted Onyemaechi but Boavista rejected both offer cos they were unable to get replacements. Oga your ignorance is alarming!

Balderdash and Codswallop.

If a team really wants you they present the money πŸ€‘ they think you are worth of they dint rate you they offer peanutts.

Essentially so you can make up the numbers.

Never write off a Nigerian team going to AFCON!
Reflecting on the 2004 AFCON:

the Nigerian team's rollercoaster journey that defied expectations. It all began with a setbackβ€”a loss to Morocco in the opening game, compounded by the dismissal of Babayaro and Yakubu due to indiscipline. Many believed it spelled the end for Nigeria's campaign.

Yet, against all odds, the team, captained by Okocha and led by Kanu, rallied. Their resilience and determination became evident as they fought their way back into contention. Amidst the challenges, a new star emerged in the form of the young Osaze, who fearlessly showcased his talent on the grand stage, signaling the birth of a promising career.

Advancing from the group stage with an impressive victory over South Africa, Nigeria faced a formidable challenge in the quarterfinals against Cameroon. With many considering Cameroon, led by Eto'o, as the favorites, the odds seemed stacked against the Super Eagles.

However, in a thrilling encounter, Nigeria displayed their tenacity. Jay Jay's stunning free-kick just before halftime leveled the score, setting the stage for an intense second half. Then, a moment of brilliance from Papillo resulted in one of the most memorable assists in football history, setting up Utaka for a remarkable goal.

Utaka's strike, though seemingly slow and uncertain at first, found its mark, hitting the post and finding the net. The sheer joy and ecstasy of that moment were palpable, with celebrations erupting both on the field and among fans. Such was the intensity of the moment that some fans were so caught up in celebration that they didn't realize they were injured, like the person who reportedly lost a thumb in the excitement!

Despite their valiant efforts, Nigeria faced a heart-wrenching defeat in the semifinals against the host nation, Tunisia, in a penalty shootout. The loss, although hard-fought, was not without controversy, leaving a feeling that with the aid of VAR, victory might have been within our reach!

S/O to Yobo, Olofijana Okoronkwo, Abey George, Udeze etc

To my fellow countrymen, let not this friendly setback dampen your spirits.
I am confident that the Super Eagles will regroup and soar at the AFCON.
I promise you!

Baba you used the word aboki in a derogatory fashion. The honorable thing is to own your L or at least stay silent and let the issue slide.

'plays like an aboki'. We all know what you meant and you know what you meant.

Stop making a storm in a tea cup.

If I say you too like money πŸ€‘ like igbo man and or you too stingy like igbo man. Will you call that a racial slur ❓

It's tongue in cheek comedic, nothing of substance, to cause this brouhaha, by quite a few here.

From my perspective loosing to Guinea 2 in a important Friendly, is good news.

From failure success is created and made.

We will go into this tournament knowing we have a lot of work to do not over confident but with dogged determination knowing any mistake will be punished.

It stops the any ego trips based on past glories.

The HARD WORK ethic will now be instilled ,no room for error

Well written and of course you are an incurable optimist which is a great thing. Better to be an optimist than a pessimist. I remember the tournament very well with the team led by Chairman Christian Chukwu.
But in this instance, I believe JP is incompetent in my opinion. Our marriage with him isn't just working.

I share your sentiments... I'm here thinking our current form won't matter given that we have shown that we can step up when people least expect..But Peseiro doesn't inspire me with confidence.. For one thing, he has shown that he doesn't want to switch the team lineup and tactic from the archaic 4-4-2 despite many proof that it doesn't work anymore... The man no sabi at all...

Maybe or Maybenot! We shall know in few days time!
Nevertheless! A team with Iwobi, Bassey, Zaidu, Aina, Onyeka, Onyedika, Aribo, Boniface, Lookman, Chukwueze, Simon, Ajayi, Bruno, Osayi, Kelechi and the current APOTY is one of the most formidable team any African country will face!

Nigerians have nothing to be anxious about! The Super Eagles will deliver!

My prayer is they all stay fit!!

I thought they said he used 343 today.

Apparently he didn't want to switch because it's probably all he knows
