Uhm BARBIE is definitely winning Best Original Song and that's a serious category.
You're definitely a Barbie ass grabberπŸ˜‚. Original Song is not a serious award bro, Just a 3 minutes song in a 2 hours movie can't be taken to seriously compared to Score or the Big'uns like director and the rest

Been on a Michael Giacchino hype train since 2021 but Ludwig has now overtaken that brother in my rankings. Man is currently clear of every other composer.
A certain Hans Zimmer might still hold claim to the ultimate crown but that Ludwig brother has been smokes for a while now.

"The thing isn't can you read music, it is can you hear it."
"Can you hear the Music, Robert?"

As a lover of film music, I must say the Oppenheimer score might possibly be the best piece of film music i have heard in a long while without any shadow of doubt 😩.

Every note, every key totally in sync with the particular scene, like the score is so so"deliberate" that hearing the score, you can "hear" the particular scene it was "played", naaah Ludwig GΓΆransson made magic with this.

I saw clips of the Live orchestra of the Score with the actual movie playing in the background and i am like damn, White people really do know how to enjoy themselves 😩😩.

Good luck to any film music/score trying to compete with it this award season πŸ™πŸΏ.

A timeless....timeless piece of film music...Up there with the greats 🌱

This song has 200 million streams already, I've listened to the album like a million times- everyday
If Dune came out last year, Hans Zimmer could be a contender

win best adapted screenplay over killer of the flower moon and Oppenheimer?
That's why i put the caveat "might".

Can it win over? "Oppie", a long stretch, can it win over Killers of the flower moon? I think yes.

There was even an internal rambling of it being submitted for best original screenplay as the writers guild considers the movie as an "original" creation of and her husband but the Academy said no, that it is definitely adapted. It would have stood a better chance at the original category.

Christopher Nolan made an all timer with "Oppenheimer", the movie is far too superior in overall quality than all the movies last year. I am tipping it to get the "Big 4", the "scraps" of which one of them is Adapted screenplay should "naturally" come to "Barbie", for the sheer fact of it being the biggest box office success last year, one of the biggest pop culture influence project in recent history and most important passed a very important message albeit subtle.

The album was in my Spotify wrap for last year lol. My lullaby even till this day. So so good.

But Hans Zimmer na still their father lol. I have this Hans Zimmer "Live in Prague" concert that he played out his all timer scores, from "The Lion king score" to the Gladiator score to the Rain Man score to the interstellar score. 4 hours of sublime goodness 😩😩.

Hans is so so versatile, this man can score even a "rom com" 😩.

For TV series, I don't think directors should be that important. There's hardly any TV series with a single director. The episodes are usually shuffled between 3 to 4 directors, who usually have to abide by the showrunner's interpretation

Yep.

It kinda depends.... It's not really straightforward.
But for movies, most time it's the director. For TV shows, I feel the screenwriter is the most important or the showrunner. Screenwriters most times are usually also the showrunners of TV shows.

Either ways, in any setup, a writer is very important in the process of filmmaking. Although, a director could improve and interpret the screenplay in ways that appeal better to the audience and play to the actors strengths. That's why a director's position is very important.
A little side note for movies..It increasingly more a trend for writers to also double as directors, because most writers feel they would be best to interpret thier work, thats why more often than not, the top directors also screen write the project they are directing but not every one is blessed with the gift of writing. But in the grand scheme of things, the director has more prominence and it's more recognizable. I could ask you who directed a particular flick, and you might get it 9 times out of 10, but if those flick had different writers and directors, it might be an head scratcher to tell me even 5 of the writers out of 10.

It's like music artiste and the musical writer shebang. Davido almost never writes his songs or any song for that matter but he sure his the face of said songs.

Of course, overall Score is bigger than a Song.

Barbie might not win the big ones but it might get nominated in Best Director, Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor. The nominations alone is a win.
Cap it off with a win for Best Song and Box Office Performance and that's a successful run for the movie and it's producers.

Video games is a bigger industry than movies

Yes it's a bigger industry but it's not a trillion dollar industry.
And we're talking about video game adaptations for movies and TV shows. The genre is still predominantly a high risk one and only started making inroads in profitability and/or success from 2022.

Video game adaptations were largely known as ultimate flops for decades. To the point of the industry coining a phenomenon for it β€” " the Videogame Curse".

Still, even the positives in the last year, it's nowhere near CBMs.

It was the album that prompted me to listen to almost every John Williams, Ramin Djawadi & Zimmer scores on Spotify.
But in my opinion, John Williams is still the best of all times. The 'Hedwig's THeme + The Jurassic Park + E.T is just too awesome to ignore

YOu're right, although I meant to say games in general.
The bolded made me remember the Live Adaptation of Death Note grin
But what do you think will be the hardest video game to adapt
Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Illusioneffect(m): 7:15pm On Jan 12
This topic makes me think of how crazy it'll be to adapt Grand Theft Auto; it would make money but it'll flop so hard in reviews imo giving the fact that Grand Theft doesn't have a single storyline plus it is already real life in so many people's opinion

I really don't know man.
Nothing seems that hard these days anymore if you have dedicated people at the helm of adaptation and are closely guided by the creator(s) of thw games. If you have people who respects the lore as well as understands the nitty gritty of tweaking the details to fit the cinematic adaptation, they're good to go.
Someone adapting Mario Bros and it worked and made sense was a surprise for me.

For me, I'll say games that are heavy on lore or exposition heavy feel the easiest to adapt as they've already created a storyline to follow and adapt.
The work in HBO's The Last of Us surprised everybody. So nothing is impossible.

Also Netflix finally getting anime adaptations right with One Piece and I heard positive things about Yu Yu Hakusho, gives confidence in the present adaptation chops foe current content creators.

I don't know why I thought Hans was in his late 70s but I just checked and dude is still in his mid 60s. Also just bagged another babe so man obviously still has strength to keep going. He'll probably hold that crown for another decade but Ludwig is definitely coming for his throne.

Freelance.

Not a bad movie. A reflection of how the West use their big corporations to influence or try to control 3rd world countries in other to exploit them because of their natural resources.

The moviie is a subtle reminder that, no matter how many people hate you, there are still people who love you. It's as simple as that.

The original screenplay is even much easier to win this year, and it can easily win over smaller titles "Past Lives" and "The Holdovers" compared to the adapted screenplay category that will most likely have arguably, the two biggest titles last year in "Oppie" and "KOTFM".

But, tho Greta Gerwig and her husband wrote "an original script for it" , "Barbie" is an adapted screenplay in the real sense of the word. It literally says so in the credits!

Swordfish.

A nice watch. Reminds me of all the so called returned Abacha loot.

The West is busy returning Abacha loot, after all these years, but they're not returning the interest the loot have accrued.

328 million dollars, looted in 1996 will be how much today? πŸ™„πŸ€”
