This should reduce our demand for dollar on importation of petroleum products, and so should strengthen the Naira

The dollar we are using to import petrol will be channel to other things and i think fuel is our biggest import if we no longer import fuel it will ease the demand for dollars.
Dangote refinery cannot cater for the needs of Nigerians.we consume 32million litres of PMS everyday not to mention AGO, they will still import to bridge the gap until all the nations refineries will start producing at full capacity.

"God bless capitalism". This is the one that can work not that Sakamanje government says they are doing in PH and Kaduna

The Yaradua administration took us years and years back when they cancelled the sale of the refineries sold by Obasanjo to Dangote and otedola

Blame the NLC and TUC that opposed the sale vehemently hence Yaradua' s decision to reverse the sale.

The 32 million you are quoting is the figure for stealing subsidy money.
Besides,.factors clear to you and I have ensured the quantity is reduced drastically now.

It was stated that the refinery can satisfy 100% Nigeria needs.

It is the biggest refinery in the world so don't underestimate it potential.

Please how will benefit Nigerians? because Mele Kyari said refining petrol locally will not reduce the price.
The pressure on the dollars to naira will be reduce becos over 50% of our foreign earning (dollars) go directly to importation of fuel.

Just the usual round tripping among the elite and cos.

So December to January is too long for you abi? You guys don't understand the complexity of such large operations. Many unforeseen issues will come up in any such project. This is not a mom-and-pop operation. Even an ordinary Mechanic who promises you one can fail not to talk of an operation that is the largest in the whole world. If it's that easy, many people would have been doing it since.

Do you know the refinery capacity first?
Secondly, even if by half, the other half will strengthen the naira. Hence reduce pressure on dollars for other thing

The ball stops at the table of the president and not NLC and TUC.

The reversal was due to the fact that Yaradua was a socialist who believed government has a business doing business whereas it is the other way round.

Government has no business doing business hence Obasanjo selling it off as he knew it won't work

If I'm buying petrol for 650naira and I know it's being produced in Nigeria I wouldn't mind.

You're yet to answer the question. Dude what will that benefit you? I don't know what is wrong with some of you. When GEJ was in power, fuel was at least #85 - #145.

Now Tinubu is in charge with dangote about to start production yet you say you wouldn't mind buying it for 650 naira? Is your brain not leaking like this so?

It may be the opposite. Crude for that refinery was imported. PMS price may be raised to N900 or more per litre to allow this refinery to make some profits. Otherwise, Dangote will export its products, which is not bad. It will boost Nigeria's dollar earnings a bit.
I have consistently informed anybody that cares to read on this forum that Dangote will not boost Nigeria's forex earnings and you are still making this nonsense submission.
PresentlyNigeria is exporting her crude oil to earn FX or adopting the NNPC model to swap crude for petrol. Either way crude and fx change hands.
Now if instead of using that crude to get FX you give Dangote to refine then the alternative forgone is FX that should have been earned selling the crude. If after Dangote refines and he exports then the crude returns to Nigeria for which he will repay shell and co that he sources the crude from.
Now any profit Dangote makes in the process will go into settling his enormous debt for the refinery or his escrow account offshore which is the model all the oil companies in Nigeria runs.
They all do not save any of their proceeds in Nigeria but with JP Morgan chase in US and you can't blame them because the oil market is internationally denominated in USD.
So please and please forget Dangote to come and solve your FX problems for you and look elsewhere.
