Things are definitely falling into place, concerning the issue of the refineries, and by God's Grace we shall surely get it right. 2 Likes 1 Share |

BUSI105:Yes it is good... OBJ privatized the Refineries during his tenure, but Yaradu'a came and cancel the agreement between FG and Dangote with Otedola... That is part of the reason Dangote had to get licence to build his own refinery. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Kenochi:Will all these reduce the price of fuel? if no, it has not impacted a common Man. for the citizens to believe and trust this initiative, the price of fuel must come down to at least 300 to 350 per liter, that way we will know that the policies are working and useful |

nstore: Goverment has been running it for years with no headway.Let private companies take over the business of running our refineries. According to Otedola 'Goverment has no business running business'. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Re: NNPC Seeks Private Companies To Operate Port Harcourt Refinery by omohayek: 12:51pm On Jan 15 |
Kenochi:I agree that full privatization would be best, but that's not what this proposal is suggesting. As far as I can see, all they're calling for here is for private entities to manage a refinery which will still be under full government ownership. That doesn't go anywhere near far enough in my view. They need to sell the antiquated white elephants and be done with them once and for all. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Re: NNPC Seeks Private Companies To Operate Port Harcourt Refinery by BreconHills(m): 12:57pm On Jan 15 |
bestman09: Why lie? It was Yaradua that cancelled the refinery sale. It was PDP that was in power at the centre. How could Tinubu prevail on a PDP government to reverse itself? What does that say about the PDP? I guess it was Tinubu that stopped the PDP from failing to deliver one capital project in 16 years? Tinubu must be a heck of a guy! 1 Like |

bestman09: It's value is in it being in the right hands, and not in farming it out for Uber, just as the value of Port Harcourt Refinery too is in it being in the right hands and not in the hands of asset strippers. Sorry, but I'm very suspicious of privatisation. Especially if not well scrutinised. |

nstore: Name one organisation that has survived government ownership in Nigeria. NITEL, NEPA, and Nigeria Airwaste have been run to the ground. Outsourcing the refinery to private operators and keeping control of the the governance and finance is a far better model that has worked in te operations with the NNLG 4 Likes 2 Shares |

Re: NNPC Seeks Private Companies To Operate Port Harcourt Refinery by theamazonguru(m): 1:08pm On Jan 15 |
BUSI105: It's better. In fact that's the best decision they could have made on that Refinery. Government is notoriously known for the inability to conduct any business efficiently and profitably. I will give you 2 examples: I once went to visit a friend at NPA in Rivers. Ordinary photocopy was an issue. If you want to photocopy anything, you need to get your own A4 paper. Meanwhile the management of the entire port facility here in Rivers state is managed by ORLEANS INVESTMENT (Intels Services), you need to see the definition of efficiency except whe it is really beyond their power , at least i known of the FLT & FOT. Another case in point is the once dead Eleme Petrochemicals that couldn't produce any product until it was privatized and sold to Indorama. Go there today and see the traffic occasioned by the trucks going in and out of Indorama all carrying products (Fertilizer, Urea etc ) Privatization is the way to go. The question we can only ask is, will the process be transparent without the influence of any vested interest? This remains to be seen. But I tell you, there is hope. 10 Likes 3 Shares |
