Hi guys
Please i have a few question.

- after the verification by the lawyer at the embassy, is it a must to pay the € immediately for the documents to be authenticated?? Or can i pay for some, then come back to pay for the others if needed?

- when playing for documents, if transcript has 2 pages, am i to pay for just the transcript or the pages?
And does this also go for the declaration and attestation.

Abeg who can clarify for me.
Thanks

You are a bst, do you know japaconsult? Ohh no, I guess you don't know them....cos they are the ones that give faster date if you can pay the price......be yarning dust and forming woke while others deploy means to move out of this shithole fast.

Nonsense.
If you have the money and you want to move before winter then you pay the price, if not, then you wake up by 12-1am and be looking for April - May dates.

Pls house, I was born 1988....what type of age declaration should I take along to Abuja? Is it the normal birth certificate or NPC certificate? If the latter applies to my situation, how can I go about it? Thanks in anticipation of your responses.

NPC was established in 1992. You can’t use that small grey paper certificate because you were born in 1988. That’s before NPC was established.

Somebody who is, at least, 8 years above your age must do age declaration for you in a competent law court. Don’t do it at magistrate courts o or at courts where they don’t usually come to work.

Let your declarant go to state High Court of Federal High Court where their staff normally come to work regularly.

After getting the age declaration done, your delarant can then proceed to NPC to get a birth certificate for you on their letter-head that would include the passport of your declarant.

The person declaring for you would be the one Austrian lawyer would talk to and the person must know 99% things about you.

It’s better the person is your family member or uncle or aunt etc. don’t use your friends o.

Also, DONT FORGET TO INCLUDE THE PERSON’S (DECLARANT’S) NAME ON THE FORM YOU FILL THAT YOUR ARE SUBMITTING AT THE EMBASSY, AS PART OF YOUR RELATION. OF YOU FAIL TO DO THIS, THE EMBASSY LAWYER WILL PICK IT AGAINST YOU AND TOU WILL HAVE TO DO ANOTHER AGE DECLARATION AND BIRTH CERTIFICATE AND PAY ANOTHER 200k TO THE EMBASSY.

SO, MAKE SURE YOU STATE YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE PERSON ON THE FORM TOO AND IT HAS TO CONFORM WITH THE ONE YOU USE ON THE AGE DECLARATION AND BIRTH CERTIFICATE.

You meant document to be legalized not document to be authenticated.

- Authentication is done at MOE and MOFA

- Verification is done by appointed lawyer by the Austrian embassy.

- Legalization is done by Austrian embassy and it depends on the number of documents you intend to do.

That’s the sequence.

Back to your question: you can choose not to legalize immediately after verification is concluded and a verification mail/certificate says all is ok.

But why will you chose not to legalize since you have to send legalized docs to Austrian universities for them to offer you admission? Except if one doesn’t have cash, I see no reason why you should not legalize.

It is good you legalize all documents that your university will require to consider you for admission, in addition to your police character certificate, birth certificate, marriage cert/spinster/bachelorhood certificate l. Those last 3 certificates are compulsory because they will be used to process your RP from inside Austria.

I hope this helps.

Don’t mind that man. For Visa-D (which is long stay - part of which study visa is categorized) o, nobody is helping anybody to pick date.
They can be helping them to pick date at VFS office for Austrian Visa-C ( short stay, which is not more than 3 months).

Anybody who pays anybody to pick date for Visa-D at Austrian embassy in Abuja should kiss his/her money bye bye. Even with some insiders I have the opportunity to know there, you can’t influence the appointment date.

For point 7, the accommodation part. I want to state that although you can get a shared apartment for €350. Sometimes in some shared apartments, these €350 excludes utility bills such as electricity, water and internet.

Also, I don't know about other States in Austria, but in Vienna, accommodation is a little bit scarce and getting a student apartment in a dormitory is quite challenging. Sometimes you may apply for accommodation and would be on the waiting list for up to 3 months before you get a student-shared apartment within the price tag of €350 - €370. Because shared apartments don't come easily, and you must present to MA35 an apartment which you have secured and can register at the local district you hope to reside in (Medezettel) before they give you your residence permit, I will advise you to budget at least €400 - €500. I know it sounds expensive, but Austria is experiencing Inflation and the price of renting an apartment is surging too. Budget at least €1000 for security deposit (This would be paid to the landlord/landlady when you move into the apartment).

Make a solid plan for yourself as to how you will survive when you get into Austria. These rents are paid every month and don't expect to get a job immediately you land in Austria, no matter how skilled you think you are. So come along with some foodstuff and some funds that may last you for at least up to 3 months. If you can afford to come along with funds that will last you for 5 months - 6 months, then all the best.

If you are physically, mentally and psychologically prepared to study, live and work in Austria, then please start learning German. Start learning it from Nigeria, you will thank me later for this advice. Life will be easy for you if you can learn German to B2 level before moving to Austria. Learn some other skills like barbing, phone repairs, plaiting of hair, graphics design, photography etc. These skills can help you survive the first few months when you arrive in Austria.

Remember, it is not easy in Austria. Getting a job as a student in Austria is not easy especially in Vienna, because of the language barrier. So you need to prepare. Well I don talk finish sha.

Accommodation is not scarce in Vienna. It’s because you don’t have the right information.

You can get shared accommodation for €350 all bills included. Just know the right direction to look for accommodation. Stop putting fears in people.
It’s good to apply early though to get accommodation in city centers. But no matter where you get accommodation, everywhere is accessible and it’s extremely easy to move around. Their outer city Districts (which you and I can call villages) have everything that you need to survive. They are better than our FCT.

THE JOURNEY OF AUSTRIA LEGALIZATION

Starting from the Ministry of Education down to the Austria embassy.

📍 If you are doing all the process by yourself. It may be tiresome, but you just have to endure. First before preparing to go to the MOE, ensure that you have uploaded your document online and make payments through the remita portal (1000 per document). An appointment slip and remita generated receipt should be printed along with your *original documents* for authentication at the MOE.

📍 Please, ensure to be at the MOE before 6 a.m. If you get there by 7 a.m., I can say your chance of getting a number is 10%. The reason is that they usually attend to the first 50 people who come for authentication. You will put down your name and before they can issue you a number or tally, they will check *if you are with your appointment slip and remitta generated receipt*. If you don't have the two, they will not give you the number.

📍 Ensure you have photocopies of all your credentials/documents with you and any valid means of identification.

📍 Now the process begins, they start attending to people by 9:30 a.m. or 10:00 a.m. (as the spirit leads them). They will check your appointment slip, remitta to receipt and your educational documents, then move to the next table with a sticker will be generated for your certificate. At this second stage, if your documents were not uploaded very well, they will ask you to go and re-upload. Do you know what this means? You will have to pay another money for re-uploading which is #1,000 per document. I saw people who re-upload their documents 3 times before they were issued the sticker.

📍 After you have been issued the sticker, you will take all your documents together with the photocopies to where you will submit them for signature. Here, you will be asked to buy an envelope (#100) to pack your documents. Then you will be waiting to collect your documents after it has all been signed. Note that it is not easy as I have narrated my experience, you will have to queue and pen down your name in every stage I have mentioned. 6. After the collection of your documents, you can request for *ELIGIBILITY LETTER AND ENGLISH PROFICIENCY LETTER*. I got the two documents that same day after I finished with the authentication but here, *you will have to do the needful* to get it that same day and that is if you know the right channel. Actually, it is *FREE* but you may not get it that same day.

🔺MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS 🔺Then to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This is as simple as ABC, there is no stress or any kind of hassle. Just payment remitta payment of *#300 per document* here. If all your original documents are 10 (for example), and you want the MOFA to authenticate both the original and photocopy for you, that means you will have to make payment for the photocopy as well. ( But I don't think it is necessary since the Austria Embassy doesn't need photocopies of your document). Also, the MOFA will request for their copy too for record purposes and you should have a *passport photograph* with you because they will request one copy of your passport.
The reason why I said this stage is easy is that you don't need to go earlier to the ministry but *just ensure you're there before 12 pm or 1 pm so*. The time for collection starts by 3 pm (after you have submitted your documents)

🔺Now to the *AUSTRIA EMBASSY*🔺

This is the stage where you will go and submit your credentials with the sum of *#200,000 payable in cash*. Please, note that any denomination less than *#500* will not be accepted by the embassy. Here you are not allowed to go in with your phone. The security at the entrance of their office will scrutinize you and s/he will help you keep your phone.

At the Austrian embassy, two of my documents (digital age declaration and the other affidavit I attached to my document) were rejected based on the reason that *THEY ARE NOT PRINTED IN COLOUR COPY*

*PLEASE, THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. ENSURE THAT YOUR DIGITAL AGE DECLARATION FROM THE HIGH COURT OR ANY OTHER DOCUMENTS FROM THE HIGH COURT ARE PRINTED IN COLOUR*

I was asked to provide it within the next two weeks. But thank God, I have the soft copy sent to my phone but I will have to print it in color and authenticate it at the MOFA before taking it to the embassy for final submission.
That was my experience with the process.

Good write up. You can modify this and help them put necessary web links that you used then to guide them.

It’s good the Mod of this thread deletes all comments that are talking about WhatsApp group for Austrian study visa here.

Creating WhatsApp group outside this thread does not allow up to date info and experience sharing.

They have taken more than half of the info to their private discussions, which looks being selfish.

Let everybody be here and rub minds together and co-learn.
It would even be more fun and interesting.

A lot of people who have benefited from this thread too and are in Austria or have moved on to another country can be coming here to share some tips for those that are coming.

That’s how we can grow. All I have been lucky to meet from here can bear me witness, I don’t charge them kobo for any info or any assistance and I do it to the best of my ability.

Please let’s be our brother’s keepers.

That’s what they did to Estonian study thread and they run it moribund.

Reason i asked was in terms of funds constraint. And in situations when you may need to legalize one of the documents after the lawyer was done with the verification. But didn't do it initially.

As regards the second part, will all pages of the transcript(or similar document) serve as a single document during legalisation(80€). Or it's by pages?

It’s per page because they will put sticker at the back of every page to show it is a legal document. It means it can be accepted or tendered as evidence in court of law and it has become admissible by Austrian government to be used to process your RP or for any other thing.

Any document that does not have the sticker at the back is not a legal doc because people can be fraudulent and attach extra document which the embassy didn’t legalize (by putting sticker) and then add it to the ones the embassy has legalized.

For student hostels Google:

1. WIST heim

2. KHG heim

3. ESH heim

Specifying your desired location. These three have a national presence in Austria.

For private and cooperative housing (Genossenschaft) rentals check out the Immobilien section of WILLHABEN.AT

The declarant can do it without your presence and Vice versa. Provided you provide your right infor to the person declaring for you (that is if she is doing it without your presence)

Your info should tally with what is in your international passport, and you should provide her with two of your passport photographs (cos those at NPC will need them)

If you are doing it without your aunt being present, then you can sign with her initials, e.g her name is Akinola Grace, you sign with AG.

And do remember to inform her of how you signed for her on the affidavit, cos the lawyer that will come for verification will ask her to resign the affidavit in his/her presence.....mine did same to me.

Am I making sense or not?

As a student, you are not allowed (officially) to work more than 20 hrs. Where you are lucky, your employers can allow you to work overtime, at times. After your graduation and even if you haven’t gotten to job-search visa, your employer may apply for up to 32 hours per week for you and it’s usually granted.

I am sorry to say this: 20 hrs can pay bills. Just learn how to live within your means. If you get a job of € 850 (net) like in fast food restaurants, and your monthly accommodation is not more than €400, your monthly transport card (buy 1-year pass) is €33, your internet is €10 max because you will always have access to WiFi at home, what’s next is for your upkeep for the month which shouldn’t be more than €150-200 Euro. I assume your employer will pay for your insurance monthly.
You can conveniently save €200 except if you have debts that you are paying back home or you have other areas you are spending on. 😜😜 you and I know.

For extra work, people do it in an under-arm way but I don’t advise it because if you are caught, you would pay heavily for it. More so, it would affect your studies.
You can utilize your holiday period to work full-time and still make some bucks.

You could also be lucky go get jobs that would pay you €1k to €1.2k net in a month.

Check Adecco. They recruit for Amazon but be ready to work even though they well above €12 per hour.

Check at Der Mann Bakery, Anker, Billa, BIPA, Enny etc.

One tip I will give you is that the companies that pay well are usually far from the cities. If you can be commuting long distance, lots of companies are waiting to may more, even up to 1.4k net per month.

It would be advantageous for you if you can drive and you have converted your Nigerian driver’s license to that of Austria. You can get a small vehicle and be using it to move to the outskirt of the city where lots of companies are there looking for people to work.

Pay per hour is not static. Some companies can pay than others but expect from €8 to €15 per hour.

Check clevylinks.com. They are taking applicants on full and part time basis. They are just building their warehouse in 21st District in Vienna. They are from China. Be ready to work and be on your feet for longer hours in a colder warehouse.

Check fiveguys restaurant’s website. They accept application on a daily basis. They are like McDonald’s.

There are lots of them out there.

If you can’t work full time at your company during summer holidays, look for event companies during that period. A lot of them have plenty jobs because there are concerts everywhere and you would make money and travel round Austria and beyond with the company.
