That's not true. The reason is that Nigerian university system is too cheap to bequeath students with the skills they need to succeed. The biggest casualties are STEM graduates. If Nigeria wants to improve her education system, the government must be willing to spend a lot of money on the system.

Na serious play Nigeria 🇳🇬 universities dey play. Even some law makers in other climes are questioning the benefit of the regular 4 walled education system.

I'm happy NUC is waking up and approving fully fledged online universities like Miva and Co. So happy it's happening in my life time.

I have been an advocate of this immediately I finished school and saw the dangers inherent (morally and otherwise) and the unnecessary waste.

You miss the point

The qualified labourers are more than the available jobs. In the 60s, companies n FG visited universities to employ intending graduates. Some got employment even before they graduate

Then, it used to be a matter of choice, even graduates with 3rd class.

Of course they should close down all the universities in the country. If that will solve the backwardness and the poverty in the country..
So that everybody can learn a skill or start up a business

In Nigeria, study and not allowed to work because of ancient curriculum that has not invented anything meaningful except copying.

Tell me what happens when a student studies alone and comes out like a newbies to the world system.

In UK or US you already understand that if you don't work you won't chop. What stops a student from helping houses dispose refuse on weekends. In Nigeria lecturers will set class on weekend.

as a person leaving in UK , please go and learn a skill , carpenter, plumbing, mechanic, electrician,these are what pay bills daily and keep a man active in a household,

white people don't go to school what they do is attend apprentice school and work has start after training... if you are not studying doctor, lawyer or engineering, please don't waste your money

Very funny comment but facts. I didn't understand all these till I completed my masters online via distant learning in a school in the USA. I then discovered what I could I achieve if the African educational system allowed for flexibility during my bachelor's degree.

He his not a lecturer but a motivational speaker trying to sell his book for new student.

They always do that at the beginning of new session.

He has no business then being in classroom lecturing what they don't need. Certificate is good but not enough.

Parents should be held responsible for failing to guide their children to the reality of our country.

I will never send my children to school without encouraging to learn high demanding skills.

So those PhD holders bought certificate?? You seem to be very shallow... They are many first class graduates that are yet to land a meaningful job most times due to the course they studied in a non favorable naija market labour and lack of connect. Very seasoned graduates who don't have access to funds to start a business all bought certificate according to you. Slow ass mf

Change this mentality... If everyone now go to school, and nobody is a fashion designer, who will sew the clothes you will wear? We are supposed to go to school to acquire skills and knowledge for barbing, buying and selling, fashion designing etc and not to go and read irrelevant books and graduate with a useless certificate. Those Fendi and varsace you crave for were designed by graduates and talented individuals. Britain just came here and messed with our brains and intelligence.

Nigerian educational system is so poor, Most students now sort courses, some don't even learn anything they just cram only when it's time to write exams. Exactly why most youths are into fraud, after school, because even the basic skills to get employed most don't have it. Luckily for the sharp ones, they struggle to learn fast, and become good, while working.
