Of course Chief!!!

No doubt, overall, the team played well and created lots of scoring chances but could not finish them up.

CIV will have it tough against this Nigerian side

Alhassan Yusuf should get his weight up,he is full of enthusiasm but too skinny for the big game. ⚽️🇳🇬 will win Afcon 2024

Sometimes it's not by adding weight. There is something called evasive maneuver where u still get rough handled but u preempt what an opponent is about to do.

Let's also remember that bulking up reports elsewhere and that's in speed. I'd rather he hones his skills at ball holding

Some big teams like Ghana and Cameroon may crash out o

These two, they may not recover. Ghana will need to beat Egypt in their next game to have any chance of remaining in the tournament while Cameroon still have to face Senegal. Gambia are no push overs too, forget their 10 man lost 3:0 against Senegal. They still played good football.

Yeah, a lot of these countries now have players in Europe/developed leagues. Imagine a team like Equatorial Guinea parading only one home based player.

Gone are the days when the smaller teams will pack the bus and hope for a slim defeat. Situations that played out in the 2026 WC qualifiers have started playing out in the AFCON again. It only tells us something: ''there are no more minnows in African football''.

Mehn, I was surprised the way Alhassan played, I had never watched him play before.

He will be key in our next match 💯
.... and it will be hard to omit him in our midfield list going forward even if Ndidi comes back.

I'm just happy we now have another body in that midfield, small but mighty!

That hot condition we played under no good. I wonder whose idea it was to set kickoff that unbearable time for an opener. Coach wey dey bench just dey empty cold bottles on his head
Don't use weather as an excuse please..
In Europe they play under freezing conditions and dem no complain, when they come to Africa, they complain of the weather. Were they the first of their kind to play under hot sun?
I've played in the afternoon under a 40c weather on a hot astro-turf pitch for more than 2hrs non stop. No breaks( them too had break intervals)
Do what you love to do with no excuses.
Even people wey dey knack under hot humid room no dey complain.

The way JPes sets up his teams, we will struggle against teams that sit back and play on the counter, but play better against teams that come at us.

CIV will come out to attack us, that will give us plenty opportunities to create chances
We only hope and pray our guys finish their chances, because we will create loads of them

I see a draw or win for us against CIV
True talk. Anybody who has the best defense, goalkeeper and midfield will win that game.

ESPN analysts rated our performance as one of the best in the group stage!

They were surprised at how much chances we were able to create against supposedly one of the so-called best defensive team in Africa.

Moreover, they were more surprised at the number of chances Osimhen missed!
We had an XG of 2.80,that's the highest in this competition! But it's a bitter sweet stat though.

5 TACTICAL TWEAKS JOSE PESEIRO MUST MAKE IN BLOCKBUSTER CLASH AGAINST IVORY COAST.

Sern test awaits Nigeria with familiar foes Cote d'Ivoire in their second group game at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Having come unstuck in a 1-1 draw against Equatorial Guinea in the first match, manager Jose Peseiro cannot afford to stick rigidly to flawed formulas this time.

With Cote d'Ivoire boasting compactness in defense, speed and clinical instincts in attack, Peseiro must move quickly to shore up Nigeria's backbone.

Meanwhile unleashing his enviable arsenal of forwards requires the right balanced platform.

Here are 5 tactical tweaks the Portuguese tactician must make to outfox Cote d'Ivoire and get their AFCON campaign back on track:

1. Shore up central defence

Cote d'Ivoire's attacking trio of Nicolas Pepe, Sebastian Haller and Jeremie Boga carry game-breaking qualities demanding concentrated defending.

As such, Peseiro would be wise to install a more reliable center-back pairing of William Troost-Ekong and Calvin Bassey straight away.

Their aerial prowess, positional sense and recovery pace equip them best to counteract Cote d'Ivoire's individual brilliance.

2. Unleash refreshing fullback threats

Getting caught short in wide areas hampered Nigeria previously. To solve this, Ola Aina and Zaidu Sanusi must be granted license to attack as flying fullbacks.

Both are supremely comfortable in advanced areas and offer much-needed width to stretch Cote d'Ivoire laterally.

3. Add steel and energy to midfield

Against Cote d'Ivoire's projected midfield triangle of Ibrahim Sangaré, Seko Fofana and Franck Kessié, Peseiro must reinforce his midfield spine.

The tireless running of Alhassan Yusuf alongside either Frank Onyeka's combativeness or Alex Iwobi's technique presents the best solution to compete through the middle.

4. Playing with two center forwards

Rather than persisting with pairing a lone striker with a wideman as seen in the first game, pairing talisman Victor Osimhen alongside Paul Onuachu would immediately test an uncertain Ivorian center-back pairing.

Osimhen's pace and movement combines ideally with Onuachu's size, strength and aerial threat for a striker partnership with everything.

The twin threat will demand concentrated attention, creating space for others

5. High and aggressive defensive line

As tempting as sitting deep against Cote d'Ivoire's individual threats seems, this plays into their hands.

Pepe and Jeremie Boga enjoy isolating fullbacks in wide channels to run at. Meanwhile Haller is given the space he craves to pick up second balls.

Instead, pushing Bassey and Ekong into higher starting positions prevents Cote d'Ivoire's front three receiving in their preferred pockets.

Remember when they called Chukwueze the next Arjen Robben

Reality is beginning to hit home

And their so-called APOTY couldn't convert school boy chances

Osimhen would never be didier drogba

He has gotten to the peak of his career and last season was the best season he would ever have

I foresee him moving to a non -champions league club when Napoli uses and dumps his ass

grin grin grin grin

And yea, Nigeria is getting kicked out of the group stage as I had predicted before the tourney

HOpefully, this place will become quite for a while after

grin grin grin grin
