So those PhD holders bought certificate?? You seem to be very shallow... They are many first class graduates that are yet to land a meaningful job most times due to the course they studied in a non favorable naija market labour and lack of connect. Very seasoned graduates who don't have access to funds to start a business all bought certificate according to you. Slow ass mf

You are obviously one of the "many first class graduates that are yet to land a meaningful job".

Just see how you choose to communicate, then ask yourself if you are employable.

even if you get the certificate properly... Where you see the work.

You need the learning too, with which to see opportunities or create them where they don't exist. Work, after all, is just what you do to earn a living.

Basically, learning is the art of turning the sweat of thy brow into food in your belly. Unfortunately, this [learning] is not very much included in the education one receives in Nigeria I do admit. Self learning is an option though.

You miss the point

The qualified labourers are more than the available jobs. In the 60s, companies n FG visited universities to employ intending graduates. Some got employment even before they graduate

Then, it used to be a matter of choice, even graduates with 3rd class.

Qualified labourers at what exactly? Do you seriously think graduates who pay others to write their dissertation are qualified to labour.

Okay, I agree that might be just a few, and agree that we do not have enough jobs. Or more accurately, we do not create enough work. We are so bad at creating work it in fact, that we send our crude oil abroad to be worked on by foreigners who sell their worked on product back to us at high prices. And we plant cocoa but buy expensive Swiss chocolate too. Bet if you look around you now there'd be lots of 'made abroad' (your phone, car, taps in your kitchen, teeshirts), and the made in Nigeria would be the more basic stuff. Damn! Many communities don't even bother doing the work of ensuring their surroundings are clean.

Work is value adding, but we don't seem too interested in adding much value, and would rather let foreigners add the value of their work and sell to us for profit.

Nigeria needs to abandon its 'manna from abroad' ideology, and adopt principals of the Swadeshi movement. And our education system needs revamping to promote such self reliance and job creation.

I beg to disagree bro,
Instead there should be special schools that deals with those professions, where you are trained on how things are done, not going to the university to study business admin for instance only to become a chef

We are saying the same thing, you should go to school to study business admin while another person goes to school to study cooking. It's all called schooling... No course is bigger than the other. Try reach Europe you understand what am saying... The only difference is some courses are handled with care like medicine and nursing but naturally they are not better than anything. The engineers has to do there path and the chef has to understand there nutrition. Britain did a lot of damages here.

Yes, especially it's already known that sex sells. You'll be amazed at what a book on how to have sex with a pregnant woman would do.

How many graduates paid their way out?. What's the big deal in dissertation where you have supervisor to guide you and many research tools.

Do they also paid there way out during project/dissertation defense?

It seems you ve not be going for job test n interview where at least 100 graduates will make it to the last stage for job openings for 20 people.

Do you think they can continue to pass job tests if they didn't earn their results. It seems the Country's population is a joke to you.

Our population imports far more than it works to create and produce itself. We pay foreign nations to do the work we must then find money to pay for. An example is us buying foreign worked on indigenous crude oil to power the million foreign produced cars on our roads. Another is the various tokunbo electrical devices we all use. Tens of thousands have jobs in the countries that produce those things we just consume. Basically, we export jobs as opposed to create jobs.

As I said, "I agree that might be just a few". The point remains that our education system does not sufficiently emphasise job creation. If it did, fewer of those 100 graduates would be trying to fill 20 vacancies because some of them would be hiring from the 100 graduates themselves.

Here's a suggestion of what we might do to create more jobs.

It depends on your field of study in the Uni.

STEM fields are in great demand globally, but other arts-related courses are just NOT sustainable so you have to reskill or retool yourself... and this is also happening in the UK and the U.S.

Hello.
What do u write?
musicwriter:
The professor is right!!

The purpose of education is not to get a job. The purpose of education is to train your mind to think so that you can solve your problem and that of your group (culture). If you're unable to think critically for yourself or and your culture out of a predicament, then you didn't go to school.

The purpose of education is to think your way out of a difficult situation, whether it's getting a job, or getting a wife or husband, restructuring your society or country, getting rich, traveling abroad, joining politics, learning a trade. Even if it's armed robbery or fraud you want to do, your education should make you better at doing it.

Whatever it is.....the purpose of education is that you should come up with a better way to get it done with or without help.

For about two years, I've been facing a downtime because I am currently investigating something that led me into economic meltdown. Believe me, I investigate and experiment on anything. I'll not say more on this because it's an ongoing investigation. I'll write something about it when I am done.

Meanwhile, I asked myself: what can I write now that people can buy across cultures around the world? I decided on a topic and wrote 8 books on that topic last year. I uploaded them on various sites including on Paystack and Flutterwave.

This January alone, I've sold 6 copies at $19 each on organic sales. No advertising yet but I'll soon advertise them.

How can someone who truly passed through a school system not fix himself?

Paystack and Flutterwave have solved a major problem for Nigerian youths who want to succeed.

Green = sold successfully

Well, if you really got quality training then you could use all that knowledge to create something of value or start up a highly profitable business and be your own boss.
My Pops who's a business tycoon, didn't enroll me in Uni with the mindset of getting a job after, but rather to start up my own business, running it in the informed and modern way by applying the knowledge gotten from tertiary training.

Hello pls can u connect me to any sustainable business or job to fend for myself

To be honest with you, in a normal country, people should be more focused on entrepreneurship and handwork, rather than being focused on acquiring more and more useless certificates.

Which means that you have to change your mentality because your first degree is absolute nonsense if it only prepares you to be looking for a job.
