What exactly were they mining?

Human skull.. grin

But on a serious note, there is an open market in Ojoo Ibadan where gemstones are sold in the open majorly by foreigners. Go visit stragburg precious stone market at Ojoo,it is there for everyone to see

Oyo state has one of the best gemstone in the world, majorly deposited in the Oke Ogun part of Oyo state. And 100percent of it are inlegally mined by people from other west African countries. Most people don't even know this

About 500M if not more are taken out of the Ojoo market everyday not to talk of other smuggling activities and nothing gets into the pocket of the Oyo state government or even the federal government.

This has been going on for years well over 40 years.

That is why we are saying we should do restructuring. With restructuring, state government will be empowered to go into taking care of their own resources themselves.

But in a case where the state cannot go into it because all resources belong to the federal government and the FG is looking the other way while our stones are being mined inlegally

The sales of IEDs or mining chemicals need to be regulated until the vendors of those items see miners present their licenses at point of purchase they should decline selling.

Ibadan no get natural resources nah

It has... I didn't know till my friend, a geologist from Abuja came to Ibadan on working visit. It's not a popular gemstone like diamond, and not as valuable, but he told me it is valuable enough to be mined. I can't remember the name.

Quite unfortunately...

Human life is nothing to our government...

But just to count figures... statistics. Just as if it's a war zone

Our government always so quick to dish out information without much information.

A house in Bodija...

Your first paragraph makes sense but the second one is unnecessary....

I wonder where or what to mine in Ibadan....bodija for that matter

Moreso, if they were to be illegal miners, why should they keep explosives in a residential area instead of a place close to the site(s) they illegally mine?

How do they move the explosives to site (s) on their illegal mining days without the security operatives finding out or accosting them...is security system that bad in this country undecided

So, people move explosives around in ibadan there and other parts of the country freely without any Intel from the secrete police or the other relevant personnel....smh!

It's only idle sagging and dread boys they have Intel on.....we had a country lipsrsealed

Intel matters to me than the kangaroo court and judgement they will set up for the unreasonable criminals that kept explosives in residential area... No wonder someone suspected that it was a terrorist attack

How many more explosives do we still have around where people live in this country, kano, kebbi, enugu, warri, Abeokuta, saki etc...

The truth is, nowhere is safe in this country

I love your logic

And addition, where else is explosives kept in ibadan.

Or we should still wait another explotion

Why saying "lies" while you have no irrefutable evidence.

Or do you really wish for a massive death?

I am just laughing when people are saying what are they mining..all these people that mine always live in groups..for instance if some people wanna dig well. they will blast the ground with explosive..and the sound can be heard throughout the area You then imagine if they stored a large quantity in one area..most of these guys that dig well stay in Bodija where people look for their service, especially people who live in areas with lots of rock underneath so they can get to the water.

What is your age? I beleive you still small or never understood the Nigerian government or media. Governor said two people died, just multiply that two by 10.

You are talking as if Nigerian government ever said the truth.

I should be asking you, because you have clearly outsourced your thinking to people that will sensationalize the casualty figures for you, let the government complete their investigation and if you have your own bodies that does not add up, bring them out. Imagine someone that is making assumptions like a teenager in his formative years going on about age! Go and banter your coevals pls.

They mine outskirts Ibadan but reside in Ibadan.. majority of them are not Nigeria and they have been doing that business over 30years in Ibadan.

Exactly. They're from neighbouring African countries. I wonder why they are allowed to continue doing it.

I live around Ojoo, and have been hearing about this Gemstone market for years, but never seen it. Abeg where exactly is it? Where is Straburg? Is it on the way to Moniya, is it around Akinyele, is it close to Orogun, or Ajibode, or Sasa, or express... Abeg where is it close to. I'm curious.

Often times these dynamites are used to blast the rocky earth layers while digging well. Mr. governor is very capable. It's a sad day as we pray for peaceful rest for those who lost their life and speedy recovery for the injured.
