In addition to all of these I only allow my transactionary account to be linked to internet banking banking and cards.

My large inflow in strictly based on old banking methods with just email notifications. I can't take chances with the multitude of scammers in the country, my dad fell prey to these devils

UBA is the latest avenue those thieves are using now. How can a bank so useless like UBA? Very lazy idiot workers. U will be referring ur customer to go to Facebook and complain to one LEO, whereby exposing ur customers details to scammers. Very foolish bank.

Re: How To Protect Your Bank Account From Thieves by Kaido: 11:37am On Jan 19
Have a bank account that you can only access only when you visit the bank. Never collect ATM, don't use USSD or mobile app on this account.

Once your sim card is locked there's no way a thief can have access to your bank account should your phone be stolen

Even with all these, Nigerian hackers will still break in your account and get the money, because our banking system is too poros and weak.
Best thing to do, after applying all the op recommend, is limit the amount you can transfer at a time with your bank app to the minimum, use your ATM for larger transfers and try not to lose your phone.
Number 2 is the ultimate, when a SIM card is locked I wonder how one would get access

[quote author=jmoore post=128017126]1. Lock your phone: Locking your phone makes it difficult for thieves to access your banking app.

2 Lock your sim card: If your phone is locked, a thief can remove the sim card and put it in another phone, using ussd to steal your money. If you lock your sim card, it becomes useless to thieves.

3. Stop putting your ATM card at the back cover of your phone. That's double tragedy if your phone lands in the hand of a thief.

4. Block your bank account when at risk: If your phone is missing, or you start getting debit alerts because of theft, block your account. You can borrow your neighbour's phone and use ussd to block your bank account no.

5. Stop sharing your ATM card/banking pin with others.

PUK is easy to get if na you register the SIM.

- Dial *123*7*3# (Can be done from anybody's sim)

- enter your phone number
- Answer 3 questions
Q1 - Mother maiden name
Q2 - DOB
Q3 - Frequent called number

That's all, you'll receive an SMS with the PUK

Check your sim pack, there is a manual there. You will see the default PIN, use it first and change the PIN. If you no longer have the pack, call the customer line to assist you with the default PIN. Then go to the settings on your phone and look carefully, you will see an option for it.
Make sure you have your PUK no before you start. Because if you enter the wrong pin 3 times, your sim will be blocked and you need the PUK no to unblock it.
