Valdese was very lucky in his career at Barca, at his time in Barca they played a possession based football meaning his guys retained 75% or more of possession in a game giving him less work to do. .. his midfield and back lines where decent so he has way less work to do.. check his stat, if team successfully fires 10 shots on target (which was rare at the time), that's like 3 goals, 4 woodwork and 3 shot blocked by defense..

He concede many embarrassing goals and sometimes forgets he is in a live match be cause typically he has less work to do in a game but he won many many championship.

Now check Jaiskalien ( I can't remember the correct spelling of his name), the former Bolton wanderers goal keeper.. bad defense in front of him.. , mid level midfield ,he makes some fantastic saves but just couldn't keep up with the amount of shots coming to his goal posts.

Van Der Sar at Juventus was just a basket until Ferguson rescued his career and brought him to manutd.

Even at France 98, Van Der Sar was just average for Holland.

Even Buffon at Juventus.. a superstar nonetheless but look at guys in front of him both at club and country but still he did let in quite a bit of easy catches.

Recall Kepa at Chelsea .. whom according to Lampard 3 shot on target = 3 goals which was true and he benched him for Mendy..

Now look at Kepa and Real Madrid , a better version of Kepa at Chelsea.

Victor Valdes at Barcelona was same.. less work to do, won many championship..
