It seems so because those items were bought long ago when exchange rate wasn't up to what it is now, simply put it that you're buying old stock at a fair price compared to what the exchange rate is now

I'll share my experience around December 2023 so you'll understand my point well, i went to buy a particular product, they told me the current price is #205,000, i shock because my budget for it was between #150,000 to #160,000 highest, they said its new stock & that's the final price for it, i wanted to leave when one of the sales rep called me back & said they have one of the old products that was bought in 2022 & wasn't sold & if i'm convinced to buy it, the price according to how they bought it is #140,500 final price, i decided to buy that old one even with the risk associated with it such as depleted battery & guess what? It was Ok after testing it

My point is any new stock will always be sold with how its bought & will be damn expensive, if you're lucky enough to buy old stocks at still what is considered a fair price, good for you but don't expect such on new products such as 2024 new phones etc, even the price of the cheapest ones will shock you

You have a point, but it is not entirely true especially for items that are in demand and sells fast. This is because most importers and sellers price their goods at current rate, even though it is old stock, so that they will not have to source money elsewhere to restock, and this is the most logical thing to do.

The main reason why you will likely get stuffs cheaper in Nigeria as opposed to buying from AE or importing yourself for you own use is because those sellers in Nigeria are big importers or buy from big importers that imports really large quantities that they get massive discount from their suppliers and manufacturers overseas. They have also achieved significant efficiencies in shipping their goods into the country particularly through sea shipping. I speak out of direct experience. You will buy the stuffs I sell 10 - 15k more expensive if you import yourself in small quantities.

The days of mini-importation is now over. If you have small money and want to go into importation, you will just be working for your shipping company and Tinubu. Dollar and shipping rates will suffocate you. You either go hard or go home.

Open dispute. If the resolution is to send items back (which is often a very expensive adventure) then do it. I only encourage people to send very expensive items back. Eg if I bought any item less than $30, I'll rather reach an agreement with seller for a partial refund rather than to send it back. When you get to FedEx and see cost of sending an item to China is ₦40k (base cost for very light package), you just gotta find another way.

Anyway, I'd advise that you count your loss and move on because if you open dispute but your evidence is not convincing enough to prove that the phone is fake, you won't get a dime as a refund.

Also, don't try returning the phone back to china; it may eventually amount to unprofitable venture. That means, you could lose from both sides (your money and the phone).
