Following the deteriorating security situation in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, the Senate has revealed plans to summon the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.

The Senator representing the FCT, Ireti Kingibe, made this known while speaking on the security crisis rocking the capital city during a Channels TV program on Sunday.

She said that when the Senate resumes plenary, the Minister would be summoned to explain his plan to tackle the security crisis.

Senator Kingibe, elected under the Labour Party, LP, platform, lamented the recent surge in kidnapping, killing and other activities by the dreaded bandits in the nation’s capital.

“It is not that I am hoping. I know he will be summoned. But whether he responds or not is a different matter entirely. But as the chief security officer of the FCT, he should have a plan.

“He should be able to tell us, the committee, and specifically me, that this is the plan for protecting the people of the FCT. Between him, the police commissioner, and the head of the DSS, they must have a plan”, the Senator said.

The lawmaker further disclosed that there is a “disconnect” between her and the FCT Minister, accusing the latter of ignoring her messages and letters in the wake of insecurity in the area.

See how inconsiderate these ppl are. Insecurity is ravaging the whole nation and they haven't summoned the heads of Security agencies or the President and then it got to Abuja and they are suddenly running heater skelter summoning the Minister. Why haven't they summoned the President or his Security Chiefs?

Wike is Minister of the FCT not Minister of Defence. However, he is doing something about the security problem in collaboration with the security agencies in the FCT. I'm sure he will gladly brief the Senate on the steps being taken.

I respect and like Wike, however, here are a few things wey fit happen to minister wey non know he work!

The public can pressure him to resign voluntarily or be removed from office by the head of state or relevant governing body due to public outcry, or a lack of confidence from within the government. A vote of no confidence can be initiated by the legislature, leading to the removal of the minister from office. If there are allegations of wrongdoing or incompetence, an investigation may be launched to assess the minister's performance. If any illegal activities or serious breaches are found, legal actions may be taken. If citizens express dissatisfaction with the minister's performance, etc

Below was my response to a dude some minutes ago on this matter:

Wike's enemy will only make him closer to the president and more powerful with this strategy. The president will be at peace that Wike is taking the bullets for him, and Wike will gradually start attending meetings with chief security members of the nation. Soon, the chief of staff, naval staff, army staff, police, etc will start taking orders from Wike. Mark my words.

Wike is so arrogant that he has refused to recognise elected officials (Senator and House of Reps members) who were elected under Labour Party.

This is not how to administer a country's capital city, it shows that Wike is simply more concerned with how to replace them with PDP or APC than governance because I have been seeing him with the immediate past FCT Senator Philip Aduda in all his events as if they are on a campaign trail instead of going with Senator Ireti Kingibe, same way he runs down the Governor of Rivers State Fubara by calling him a Small Rat 🐀 in public

Wike should focus on governance, too much politicking is not doing FCT and Rivers State any good.

Oga, campaign don end, wait till next election, we are focused on governance now, commend Wike when he does good and try to call him out when he goes astray.
Moreover the Senate summoning him is led by APC and most of them wears Tinubu's cap insignia
