Lagos is busy thinking about the Third Train Mass transit while some people are busy fighting to outwit each other with burial projects !!

So, why are we crying for Regional Governing and Marginalization huh

Just one word from cathedral in Awka, Onitsha, Nnewi and Ekwulobia......e go cast
Exactly. Catholic church in Anambra state is very strong. They can decide who will be the next governor because almost we Anambrarians are Catholics and we don't play with our bishops.

He's done nothing so far in Anambra, except asking prominent indigenous to build roads and not depend on government.

What a shame!

Ndi Anambra are already disappointed

To be clear: the article mentioned that Governor Soludo didn't enact the law. The governor wanted them to abide by an existing law, which, if we are being honest, is very reasonable. I am just wondering the essence of spending a lot of money to bury people who are dead. Sometimes, with the way the so-called clergy behaves, you begin to wonder if they actually have the spirit of God in them.

These are the same people that usually give crazy terms and conditions to bereaved families before they can participate in funeral rites. Throwing a big party for dead people doesn't send them to heaven. The last time I checked: Catholics believe in praying for the dead so that God can accept their souls, not throwing a big party to impress people.
But that is the individual's CHOICE. You don't see the essence, others may do, it's a personal thing and that should be respected. It's just like if Dangote decides to bury his mum and he spends what he deems fit, there is a possibility other people might see it as lavish because he is a wealthy man, but as long as it's his money, no one should tell him how to spend it.

Somehow it is good that they fight. The catholic contrived to monopolize political power in anambra state and push the anglicans and other denoms to the sidelines. The anglicans and others are just folding their arms to watch the whole show.
soludo is a Catholic

One thing Nigerians hate the most is change. We want to keep doing the same thing over and over but expect different results. In a land where 90% are impoverished and unemployed, same people will be supporting obscene and lavish waste of money on trivialities. When oyibo prohibit such lavish waste we will hail them as civilized and forward thinking, but when same is done here the same poor people will look for how to fight the system.

Wahala! This foolish governor of my state is increasingly damaging his chances of getting a second tenure. What is his business with how people conduct their burial ceremonies?
Does he think Anambra state is his home compound where he can act as he likes?
It's a foolish nza bird that would feast to his fill, and challenge his Chi to a wrestling match.
Professor of foolery and stupidity.

Next time reason do your research before you start quoting rubbish. How individuals spend there money is not your concern. The government should do there fucking job and stop poke nose. The Catholic Church pray for souls in purgatory not soul that already went to hell. You know nothing about the church, so stop quoting what you don’t know.

People that only read captions without reading the details are the ones to deceive here.i have gone through the write up,I didn't see where the action of the governor amount to engaging in war of words or fighting the archbishop
Re: Soludo, Archbishop Okeke In War Of Words Over Burial Of Priest’s Mother by Blazebond(m): 3:02pm On Jan 22, 2024
The archbishop is talking nonsense, the government supercedes all individuals including the church, the man is not serious at all, what is "ecclesiastial jurisdiction", is he high? The government is allowing too much comfort for this empty people who call themselves bishops or pastor's,if the government passes a law,it is law.

But how people make and spend their money, is definitely government business. Otherwise we wont have laws against money laundering and lavish waste at burial ceremonies!

From Traditional Rulers to the church

In others words Soludo has now completely Ignored Governance to be fighting traditional rulers and ecclesiastical orders.

Someone who has not done anything tangible in his first tenure just picking fights with everyone.
Picking fights alone is something. grin

Re: Soludo, Archbishop Okeke In War Of Words Over Burial Of Priest’s Mother by MadamExcellency: 3:04pm On Jan 22, 2024
You can't quantify the amount spent on burial because there is no law speculating on the number of guests and family size. If a corpse is flown from overseas, does the transportation cost also apply? This law is the most foolish legislative exercise as far as the customs and traditions of Igbo land are concerned.

The amount spent on burial can only apply to the coffin and burial ground. Entertainment no follow.

Nigerians bring in empathy into everything and expect the rule of law to be enacted.
From the write up it was stated that the state assembly had at one point in time passed a law prohibiting lavish burial in the state now the governor is trying to make such law stand you people are now playing emotional blackmail games just because it affects you . constitution doesn't recognize you nor whom you are .

Define the word lavish and where in the burial rituals it applies. Transportation assuming the corpse is flown from overseas, entrainment, family size, number of guests, etc.

That piece of legislation is defective on technicalities.
