Plus they teach children rubbish. See how they will twist the culture and add lgbtq in the near future. If Nigeria was a country, the show would be banned in Nigeria. I have been seeing Nigerians artists coming up with innovative Disney like stuffs, now they will kill all those small companies as stup*d Nigerians would rush to be watching the nonsense. Our entertainment industry is like the only thing we still have, now they want to generate by hiring dumb Nigerians abroad to write rubbish stories just to make money off Africa. They can't do slavery again now they are doing exploitation
My friend close your mouth with your useless exploitation.

How much does Nigeria and Africa have?

iwaju mean front, future mean ojoola
lolz
It depends on the context. In yoruba , a word can change in meaning depending on its usage. E.g

Wo iwájú: Here iwájú means FRONT

Ni ọjọ iwájú: Here iwájú means FUTURE

If I don't want to say " Ní ojoola", I can replace ojoola with "IWÁJÚ and it will still fly

So, here, the series is referring to FUTURE not FRONT

Hope it won't be full of identity politics.

Don't be envious. You too can become Omoluabi. Renounce your Nzobu nzobu ways. Learn our language, follow our ways. Yoruba is an ideology, more than a tribe.

Disney & Kugali To Release New Animated TV series, IWÁJÚ on The 28th of February.

Iwaju is an animated series set in a futuristic Lagos, Nigeria. The title of the series, iwájú, roughly translates to "the future" in the Yoruba language (literally "front-facing"wink. The Yoruba are a West African ethnic group who inhabit Nigeria (where this show is set), Benin and Togo.

Written by Adeola and Halima Hudson, Toluwalakin Olowofoyeko, the narrative follows the tale of Tola, a young girl hailing from an island, and her close companion Kole, a self-taught tech expert. Their friendship is tested by Bode, a tech pioneer who hides a criminal underworld he runs with an iron fist.

Following the announced date for its release, Nigerian-American actors Dayo Okeniyi, Simisola Gbadamosi, veteran actor Femi Branch, Siji Soetan and British-Nigerian actress, Weruche Opia have been revealed as some of the voices behind the characters in the animation.
I have said it before, the Yoruba people are gifted and are the front-runners in Africa. I am an Igbo man but I no go lie Yoruba people are good. I love their language which can blend easily with any other language. Their easy lifestyle also is another catchment area. In short I love Yoruba people. I also speak their language.

We're the market. Nothing more
What's new about that? Did anybody force you to watch it?
Everybody markets their products, you only buy if you want to. I've not watched a tribe called Judah whether online or offline, its hasn't stopped Funke Akindele from Making Billions out of it.

If you say so. Because of all the boasting I no longer listen to or watch anything yoruba. It’s just hard to.
It's your personal decision. And it's your personal problem if you think it's a problem. The English feel they're the best, Americans feel they're the best, the chinese feel they're the best. I dont understand why you have headache if Yorubas feel they're the best, I guess its inferiority complex but then it doesnt stop Yorubas from making the next move. Funke akindele's movie broke box office earnings (you vex), Lagos commences blue line rail (you vex), Tinubu becomes President (you vex), now this iwaju animation. You'll just kill yourself with bitterness.

You don't have sense. Disney is about money, they don't care about whatever plus they are going to twist the culture and put rubbish there. Nigeria artists with that sane dream is killed now
Disney is just experimenting with variety
Disney has done Aladdin. Mulan, Black Panther, Snow white, Mickey Mouse .

Arabic. Chinese, African , Western stories and cultures.

White corporations have produced movies on slavery like roots, 12 years a slave, Django

So far there is potential for interest and variety ( something different) and a potential revenue lead.

All is strategy for revenue and variety. Some record labels sell Jazz. hip hop, raggae, trap and R& B and Gospel so any style You buy as a customer. They still make money

Asians sell Nigerian food abroad. Does that make them Nigerian.

To me if it is real, it is just an experiment of a difference flavour of movie script.

Problem is that dollar is still 1200 to naira. We don't need more things to devalue our naira. Nigerian government should ban Disney if they have sense as they are trying to penetrate to generate money. And Nigerians are dumb, willing to jump on abroad threads

It should not be aired or promoted in any part of Nigeria. It should be banned as Nigerians are struggling, anything to curb it is great. And yes Western culture and acceptance was forced on Africans and Africans are still suffering from repercussions today and that's the reason they believe everything from abroad is better than theirs. It's called internalized racism. I hv a lot to teach you about colonialism and slavery my brother. Do you know what intergenerational trauma is?Everyone in Africa is still suffering from that

In my opinion, it's not for the Nigerian domestic market or Nigerian people overseas

It's just making something different for their customers and bringing variety

That's why American record labels partner to sell K-pop

That's why Raggae and Hip-hop are sold by White owned Labels alongside bles, country, rock and pop

Different flavours for sale
It is a different product
