Iwobi has sacrificed alot of his traditional game for the team. The pre-assist for our second goal yesterday shows what he's capable of when played nearer the forwards but I think his tactical discipline and willingness to play for the team is making everyone unfairly target him for criticism.
Even from deep, you'd see him trying to pick the defense splitting pass. He worked really hard.

One can't even look at one thing Chuk does that makes this attack click. Bassey and Aina are having more attacking contributions than a winger at AC Milan and he's not sitting down to think?? Omo!! He should be dreaming till Tella arrives.
Chuks should barb that his razz Dada.

bros Tnks. I am not among the best analyst here but when it comes to spotting raw talents I hv good eyes for that

From the very first day I saw bassey against arsenal playing for Rangers in a preseason game I knew that we hv a gem in our hands
So that is why u couldn't spot Ajiballer the mid field maestro grin grin

the same iwobi I made many here to understand that he is the most important player in our midfield. His level of intelligence and awareness can’t be compared to any currently in our team

Bobo na Arsenal groomed player which is evident in his style of play. The very reason wenger trusted him and brought him to the first team when he wasn’t even among the best in his set playing for Arsenal’s youth teams
Just like midfield maestro Ajiballer lipsrsealed grin

he should be dropped from the team hooha

His replacement should be Okoye, also the team’s handlers should scout for more keepers if possible from the NPFL

The two times he played those goal kicks he caused a clash of heads between our players. The first was between Aina and Onyeka. The second was between Osimhen and I think Bassey. His goal-kick range was short. When the Angolan goalkeeper came on after their first-choice goalkeeper got an early red card, he made a beautiful save immediately. Mind you this Angolan second-choice was also their previous first-choice goalkeeper in their last AFCON appearance. It's not a question of confidence but a question of hunger. Uzoho is not hungry for the opportunity to improve. And no wonder he could say "if e easy, make Oyinbo sign you" . I want to ask him now that "so as oyinbo sign you now, you think say that na all, you think say na final bus stop, you think say you don arrive "
Uzoho no go finish us

his connection with okocha has affected his rating in the eagles. His performance since his first day has always been measured against okocha's. most people don't even want to know if he is playing deep, they just want to see him play like okocha. The funny thing is that iwobi is just 5 goals behind his uncle in the nt and has 2 two more assist than okocha. He would have been viewed differently if he didn't have any connection with Jay Jay.

Nwakali no doubt is a good player but he couldn’t develop the physical aspect of his game

Coaches of this generation no Dey use players with high work rate dey play

The reason u see less talented but robust and physical midfielders moving to good and decent clubs/leagues

Welcome back, brother!!
TheSuperNerd:
Like Marjoribanks predicted before the Afcon, we could win it. He always cited our talents depth. He was right but talent without structure gets you nothing. He kept stressing how our talents should see us dominating this tournament and he had a strong fair point but one problem remained: How would Jpes utilise them? Finally we have been answered with Jpes' repentance from the 442.

So Nigeria will win it not because of talents depth but because of our current structure. Cos Jpes finally switched things up to the advantage of the personnels at his disposal.

So it wont be down to what was seen before the Afcon. It is down to what Peseiro is finally getting right at this Afcon.

Change of formations to 433 and then 343 Proper utilization of players in these formations in tandem with the tactical discipline of our backline.

Nigeria is properly executing tournament football and Osimhen is the number 9 you need for a team that is set up this way.

Note: Osimhen is dynamic. He is the number 9 you need both for an attacking and defensive based side. He is excellent for a counter attack side and also thrives with aplomb in a possessive based side. What a super well rounded striker!!! A number 9 for all occasions, formations and setups

Spot on assessment. Alex's link to Jayjay makes everyone judge him based on his Uncle's outrageous skills and talent instead of appreciating Iwobi for his own qualities.

our present xi has high work rate except Iwobi. Chukwueze and Iheanacho are on the bench because they don't have work rate like Osimhen,Look man and Moses

Cameroonians gave up the game after the first goal they conceded. Thought they'd recognize they been handed a lifeline to fight for a place in the quarters but there was no fire in them. Etoo practically wept on his way to the parking lot.

I guess the saying is true that you can't give what u don't have.
Anguissa's body language said it all. I guess Etoo's talk demoralized the team.

That said, kudos to our team. They did well. They showed chemistry and understanding which has been lacking for quite a while. They played with fire in their hearts. Committed to the end. Congrats Naija

Men e still dey burst my brain how our defense restricted Cameroon to ZERO shots on target.

Was reading how N'Koudou who had a tournament high 10-chances created from open play and set-pieces was completely nullified by Aina yesterday.

they didn’t give up but lacked the tactical know-how to counter jpes tactics and game plan

They were bereft of tactical ideas

Omeruo’s inclusion then was because we lacked decent number of CBs

These are the things u hv to put into consideration. Then the only top level CB we hv was Yobo unlike now when a top young and impressive CB like Ogbu is yet to get a chance in the team coupled the possible switch of Tosin and others hopefully soon

If we manage to get Tosin then Ogbu earns his first call up and performs we hv enough when the above mentioned duo are added to the current ones we hv in the team currently
not just lacking. He was good. People clamored for inclusion too. Young and good enough is enough for me. But you're right. If it becomes packed, selection headache no go bad sha😀

remember one cross that nobody challenged but that Cameroon no 5 almost did own goal? I wonder why folks are Overrating Angola and Mabululu. The Angola defense is just like Cameroon own. That mental presence of Nigeria's attack is going to force errors from defenders in this AFCON. Mabu won't be the 1st to breach that defense.

It is Angola that should be having panic attacks about what Nigeria CAN AND WILL DO on Friday. Even worse if Iheanacho gets minutes. Our only concern right now is availability of Nwabali.
