You're myopic to think that we contributed 20% for nothing! You think fg would contribute 20% without any contractual agreement to supply some percentage to the local matket? You're not a serious fellow to think fg is father Christmas Mansa6: |

alsudan:Well, all I see is the marketing strategy and business bounding with other world class organizations. It will be suicide for a world class refinery to depend only on Nigerian crude. What happens when avengers strike again in future and blows all the pipeline? Meaning Dangote will fold up? Companies source Thier raw materials anywhere. This is just for Dangote to have another excuses for Nigerian why his fuel prices locally can't go back to #180 per liter. Also, Nigeria crude was solid in dollars to him and like others. But wait, I think the difference btw Nigerian crude and US crude purchase is cost of transportation, the prices are regulated by opec. |

Oghene86:Crude oil sold in advance? And still, they borrow money they can't pay in a million years? Who borrows money to steal? Not even steal from the income generated? Yet when peeps say the black man is under a special curse, they rant that the whites did worse. No sir, they didn't. |

nairalanda1:Maize be unto thee So since Dangote was not meant to be of any benefit to Nigerians, can you explain why he was being given tax waivers, free forex and even backup for loans from the Nigerian purse? He should have gone ahead and sourced for his money all by himself, pay all his debts and get forex from the parallel market. I am also surprised that the same people who were praying and waiting for Dangote refinery to come on and solve our forex woes are still explaining why he has to source for crude inputs from the US. Nigerians like you are really cornfused |

Sorry, I don't understand. We always export crude oil to other countries but why is Dangote importing the same crude oil from the US? What happened to our oil? |

LordAdam16:Nigeria is closer to Europe than India, where the continent buys crude oil. Although, Indian refined oil is cheaper because of discounts by Russia, but logistics costs, especially as a result of the Suez Canal, should make it quite costlier than Dangote's. As you said, he has no obligation to sell to Nigerians. Even if he did or he does, the price will be at global rates. Dangote is going to be stupendously wealthy in the next decade. No one in Africa will unseat him as the richest individual. The subsidy ought to have gone since 2012, but intellectwats who campaigned and voted for Buhari, including Tinubu, fought against it. Nigerians deserve their rulers. |

Perhaps Nigeria government pressure. The way British pirates set up World Trade, starting circa 1650, lay the foundation for the exclusion of Africa from any influence in international trade since the advent of modernity. The reason, perhaps, why a nation like Nigeria only exported fuel and bought refind products from the West was due to the requirements of international Balance of Trade. Self-sufficiency in any important Africa state threatens established order. |
