The federal government has announced initiatives to transform the prospects and opportunities for Nigerian youth.

The initiatives include a reform of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, to focus more on ensuring that when young people finish school, they are ready to obtain good jobs or start their own businesses.

Additionally, the establishment of the NextGen Bank in April 2024 will assist young people with funding to start their own entrepreneurial projects.

Other initiatives include implementing a mandatory 30% quota in government appointments to amplify youth voices in decision-making and the construction of three youth villages in Niger, Katsina and Ebonyi, among others.

Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim, the Minister of Youth Development, unveiled the reform agenda in Abuja yesterday, while outlining a visionary roadmap for empowering the nation’s young population.

The minister said: the President’s vision for the youth of Nigeria is transformative. It encompasses comprehensive education and skills development, empowerment through various initiatives, and effective engagement at all levels.

The NextGen bank is set to launch in April 2024. This retail development financial institution will provide grants, low-interest loans, and equity investments, catalysing youth entrepreneurship in the agriculture, sustainable mining, green energy, sustainable mobility, blue economy, healthcare services, education and skill development, financial services, ICT and telecoms.”

Why do these clowns always leave substance to chase shadows? Reform the country. Screw the stupid constitution and make a new one that truly sees this contraption for what it is - a confederacy of countries with options to secede !

Replace Nysc with a one-year paid skill building program so that if graduates can't get a job, they at least have a skill to start a business.

Skills like sewing, plumbing, welding, Agricultural farming, auto mechanic, video editing, graphic design

Yinmu, na today?

As much as the scheme needs reforms, the govt. can't be trusted.
Even if they claim to attempt any reforms now, it will all be an attempt to loot.

This is long overdue. My own na make dem even scrap the thing.

Instead, teach the graduates vocational skill for 2 months and give the money they claim they spend on NYSC to the graduates to go and establish on the skills they learn.

At least 20 percent of them will go and establish themselves and not even bother to start looking for job.

Just scrap that hypocritical nonsense scheme you bastards have been using to embezzle money for years at the expense of the lives of young graduates.

Meanwhile, I heard a certain nation in Africa is being ruled by her president virtually and remotely from another more developed country.

What nation might that be?!!! lipsrsealed
