NYSC shouldn't be scrapped ... it needs to serve its purpose. Absolutely... the FG needs to invest in making skill building institutions such as the ones you mentioned... but after graduation... they need to serve time in NYSC exercising their skills .... not graduating as a plumber and serving time as a kindergarten school teacher.

University education isn’t well administered in Nigeria, soon secondary schools will deteriorate too and then you’ll be required to have a Master’s degree for entry level jobs


Most jobs that require those skills still expect you to have a bachelor’s degree. A bachelors degree is a basic requirement.

I’d rather learn skills right after secondary school and pursue a University degree after than the opposite

No security, no power, the economy is on an all time low, your want to offer young people loan? At a time when inflation is on an high trajectory? IF and when you give them just do not expect them to repay it. I've never seen the kind of leadership we have in Nigeria that builds on a shaky and faulty foundation and expect the house to stand. Quite pathetic to say the least!

Many NYSC members are still getting required experience from companies they serve,
I served in an electrical engineering company and I continued to work there .
Skills like tailoring, plumbing, auto mechanic should be a personal goals and development, not for federal government to encourage graduate to do that, if many graduates become tailors in addition to the tailors we are having presently, how much will tailors be making because service will now be more than demand.
Graduates deserve more than what you suggested in a working country
If government provides conducive environment, there would be many companies that will train and employ graduates

They should just scrap that Nysc or allow people to serve in their own state, I have lost count of how many corp members we've lost between last year April to this February, I don comment " Rip" tire, You can not just remove people from their home only to carry them and post to one remote village wey no even get common Nepa light or network for a whole 1 year, and still delay their monthly stipends.
