It got lucrative the day the first ransom was paid...years ago.

Instead of Nigerian government to recruit more policemen, when I mean policemen, I mean graduates who are worthy in character and in learning, make them undergo sophisticated training with advance and modern equipments that can track crimes like this within seconds, but will continue recruiting touts whom they used as political thugs during election to be contituting nuisance and unrest in the nation.

Chairman of Dandume Local Government Council, Alhaji Basiru Musa, confirmed the report.

Alhaji Basiru Musa is the chief security officer of Dandume LGA, let him provide proper information to the security agencies especially the DSS, Army, Police etc on the hideout of those they claimed are bandits.

No! It got lucrative because the security forces are either complicit or lacking the necessary men and machine to tackle it and make it unattractive for intending kidnappers.

Over the years, we have all seen how the security forces treat criminals from the north with kid gloves, while baring their fangs in the south.

Northerners dominate the security forces, they know what they are up to.

even if they chose to do so, they'd still recruit their people. You can't get government jobs in Nigeria without a solid connection.

Yeah, I disagree. (I'm not supporting any tribe or side by the way).

IN 2005, one prominent footballer had his brother kidnapped. The police were ready to move in and do their thing, but the footballer and his family begged them to back off , and then negotiated a ransom with the kidnappers.

IN 2013, a foreigner was kidnapped in Sokoto. Army, DSS and cops located the guy, moved in, but as soon as the kidnappers saw them they killed their victim immediately.

People don;t want their loved one to die. So, they pay ransom. See how a former minister was involved in crowdfunding money for ransom. Because people don't want their loved ones to die, and the kidnappers had already shot dead one of the victims.

Let's talk about the police. We can blame them as Fulani and Northern stooges...but they are also poorly armed, poorly equipped and have low numbers. ABout 350000 people expected to police 200 million people. We don't even have a real counter-kidnapping squad. And to police them we pay them one tenth of what the NYPD in the USA gets paid to police 20-25 million people.

At some point, we have to stop paying the kidnappers. Yes, some people would die, and yes, some people would cry, but it would remove the lucrative money thing. At some point, we got to also fund the police properly. (Yes, let's drop the cynical view that the money would be looted...the rich are also being kidnapped too, and at some point they are going to get tired of it).

Let's drop the politics. This whole thing started decades ago. We have let it fester, and this government needs to sit up and fight it.

Except people like you vote in a leader like Buhari and Tinubu again, if nobody can solve the problems of Nigeria then why do we have a country in the first place, and if it will always get worse regardless of who is there, then why do we have a country is only bound to get worse?

Listen to yourself, because you want to defend the incompetence of Buhari and Tinubu....

I disagree the security forces are under funded to confront this monster. Do we have to go into the billions being released to the army especially for these. They loot the money and do a haphazard job and till date, nobody is punished for these mismanagements. There are saboteurs in the ranks and files of the forces, how difficult is it to fish out these bad eggs and punish them? They don't need more billions to tackle such internal rot.

Yes, let's drop the politics and step on toes to achieve meaningful results.

We have seen how wanted criminals on police list wine and dine with state governors in the north and even move about with police orderlies, same criminals on police wanted lists!

Unfortunately, under the regime of Baba Bulaba, kidnapping has become more lucrative than being a manager at Chevron. Very pathetic situation. The country is on fire and your president chooses to go and chill aimlessly in France. Earlier on, your VP called Nigerians clowns for criticizing the falling naira value.

Can you see that APC is a very evil party that dines with Satan himself?

I advocate instant death penalty for kidnappers. Honestly. Once you're caught as a kidnapper, you'll be given 1 minute to say your last prayers and a bullet will be buried between your eyes.
OGA,IF U DONT TINUBU,WHY NOT FORM UR OWN GOVERNMENT?

cheesy

I think we have to invest in technology in this evil and desperate times.

BELIEVE ME, 90% OF ALL THIS KIDNAPPING IS ORCHESTRATED BY SECURITY OFFICIALS LIKE

THE POLICE AND ARMY...
THEY ARE THE RING LEADERS.

Phone tracking is very easy and effective but the police won't use it, they'll just give excuses.

The technology I'm suggesting is GPS implants.
People should start implanting gps trackers so they can be tracked.

This will have it's disadvantages but I think it's the only way out to curb this evil
Very thoughtful, not just that, they should install mini satellites in their blokos, the latest versions requires you shave your head "gorimapa", your shiny reflective shaved head is then used to receive and transmit satellite tracking signals. Once kidnapped, once you shake your balls, point your head to the sky for clearer signals, police will pinpoint you and land with drone to rescue you.
Voila!
