In the 2000 edition of the AFCON Ivory Coast performed woefully infact they were the knocked down out in the group stage. Unfortunately for
the players the Ivorian military junta then had all the players marched off to a military camp to teach 'discipline and patriotism'
Ohhh thanks for the explanation

And the 2 has the highest clean sheets in PSL. So their battle will be settled at the international stage.
At the moment, I think Williams have an edge. So SE needs to score him to push Nwabali to the top.
If Nigeria wins SA, edge cancelled.

I prefer playing SA than Cape Verde. The Cape Verde team na very dangerous team and if u no tk caution dem fit disgrace u

I don’t see the super eagles going into extra time against the SA team. The match go be comfortable win for regulation time for the eagles
They will try and use counter on us like they did in this match, I see them trying to be more cautious with us and drag the game

Apparently Ronald Williams has a great track record of saving penalties. The Eagles must keep this in mind!
Ronwen is his name.

if you hear them tonight, they are very sober o. They are not too happy with their coach's defence set up too and they are concerned the coach will maintain the same setup. If Angola had won, they would have been more confident

I don change channel already. Dem too dey overhype themselves. I'd rather lose to Cape Verde than lose to those big headed pigs.

Super Eagles must teach those people a lesson.

Counter won't work for them because Nigeria now plays a defensive game.
Even when attacking, the SE usually leaves minimum 3 standing defenders at the back, with Onyeka shielding them... That's basically why the SE doesn't concede anymore. And also, S/A are very poor in converting their chances, they have scored in only 2 matches of the 5 matches they have played thus far

Beat, not win. You win a match/game,/award. You don't win your opponent, they are not the prize.

you can't win in every match no matter how good you are either by scoring goals or defending. It's all down to what happens on the field and how the match goes. play tiki-taka, play defensive, anyhow at the end of the day, it's the result at the end of the match that determines the outcome. All we can do is put in the efforts
Yes, it’s the result but I would rather defend a 3-0 lead than a 1-0 lead. Example, Mali. Had they taken their PK and scored the 2nd, they likely are in the final.

Well, maybe you are right? That was how Chiamaka was saving penalties left, right and center until we met England. Those ones wanted to use shot tear her face. I think it might be a good omen. It is a lesson that our players must work on their pks too cos many of them are bad at it.
safarigirl:
LOL

Calm down. Cape Verde players were not great at penalties and neither were the South Africans either. They were both rubbish, one was just more rubbish than the other.

We will beat SA, but they will give us problems in the WC qualifiers.

Hopefully we beat them but this time it should be a really good beating that they will have PTSD by the next time we meet in June during the WCq. We did it in 2019, we can do it again.

If Nigeria WINS SA.....

This thread is not for correct English, we use 'win' here interchangeably with beat. When we get to places where such semantics matter, we will act accordingly.

Thanks for your contribution to the discourse.
