Nigeria police is a failure; just like any other units in Nigeria. They are the real kidnappers. They do business with kidnappers. I know of a family that called police over a kidnapping incidence in an Ekiti town. All they were interested in how much was the ransome. They kept calling daily asking about the ransome negotiations. Definitely, this is just to make sure the kidnappers they were working with dont shortchange them. If you look at the properties these policemen have you will be amazed. They own houses in so many estates in citiies. FG should first probe the police and unearth these properties

I wouldn't be surprised if majority of kidnapping and horror stories from Nigeria are fabrications. This suspicious and questioning attitude has been one of my main positions on Niraland, which is why an abiding refrain of mine has been Evidence Seeking!

As I've stated many times before, at one point in Nigeria, I made it a mission to track down the origins of the lurid, phantasmagorical, supernatural and horror articles often plastered over the front of our most famous daily rags. I never discovered anything, trails invariably exhausted like a line of water from rain trying to establish a pond in the desert.

Nigerians need to add Evidence Seeking to thire "How To Survive In Nigeria" toolbox. The advent of Social media, AI and the various faking software online make this even more imperative.

Actually one of the best policies to adopt in life, is believe or disbelieve nothing, keep an open mind! And hold on to nothing dogmatically for things are generally fluid. As Bruce Lee might say, 'be adaptive, be like water my friend!

The kidnappings are even under-reported.. I have colleagues that have lost one or two family members to kidnapping and gruesome murder in Abuja which media didn't report.

We need to stop all these face-saving political statements and step up security in the country, not just FCT.
