liveLongNprospa: You know there's another state in our region also known for fraud. Mention it then we can compare. But Shalli-whatever is the poster boy for fraudsters, and those who listen to his music and champion him double as people with questionable lifestyles and who make excuses for the thieves euphemistically called "Yahoo boys". |

The blueprint to conquering the Nigerian music industry is to make fraud music. Every epoch has its own fraud anthem Early 2000s - Olu Maintain with Yahooze Mid to late 2000s - Kelly Hansome with Maga don pay Most recently we’ve had Bella Shmurda and now Shallipoppi. I’m eagerly awaiting the next fraud prodigy to top our charts |

Realmrsean: Your real trigger is me mentioning fraudsters. You immediately felt it's an attack on your person so decided to insert yourself even when you've not expressed your love for Shalli-whatever music or from the supposed state, nor do we have some previous animosity. You read "fraudsters" and you felt a personal attack on you. That in itself is telling. Ruminate on it. 8 Likes |

Wizkid said he vibes to shallipopi which means Wizkid is a closet fraudster. You heard it from raumdeter and disstroy, not me. |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by DissTroy(m): 11:23pm On Feb 05 |
liveLongNprospa: Yes. Go on Twitter, go on Facebook. Check on the profiles and/or timelines/post histories of the larger fraction of people indulging in and promoting Shalli-whatever music, and lauding him, they ALWAYS have a questionable lifestyle or justify such. Post histories replete with "pickings", the archetypal Yahoo boy quotes and lingua, and other such peculiarities. |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by KingTom(m): 11:25pm On Feb 05 |
Music is just music to me tho, some listeners have what they prefer and they adhere to their choices strictly, others like me can play anything at anytime. A few years ago I was traveling with some senior officers on an 8 hour drive, needless to say after the ride they were all confused by musical choices, I mean one minute I'm Making them sing along and reminisce their youthful days with Earth, Wind and Fire's "Let's Groove" everybody was just singing 'Let this groove get you to move its alright, aaaaaalright!!' Next thing you know track 2 enters and you hear 'say nke na na oh, ekporo ada mi tun tun tun, nke na na oh, ekporo ada mi tuntun tun(Ask Disstroy and Patrickmuf to translate) |

DeadPresidents: Whatever vice the youngsters are into, if you sing about it, you have an audience Just like Young Jeezy blew with thug motivation in Yankee for the hustlers Even if you don't sing fully about yahoo, sprinkle it in and they will sing along Men dem outside, we no dey house No dey look for us, we no dey house You no dey see the mula we don spray out? Thank God say the maga don pay out Ope o 7 Likes |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by DeadPresidents: 11:30pm On Feb 05 |
liveLongNprospa: To leave a quick impression, you must lean into the craft of vice. Drugs, violence, sex and opulence (ideally obtained through illicit means) are always variables in the production of best sellers. It is proven in the world of screen productions. It is proven in the realms of literature and it sure as hell is proven in music. If I stay listening to Jigga rap about selling bricks and Ki‘s, am I a supporter of drug trafficking? That’s a philosophical question 5 Likes |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Itsrm(m): 11:31pm On Feb 05 |
liveLongNprospa: Does not mean the fraud happens in Niger or that they are based there. Yahoo boys mostly use random home addresses in Niger because they know it's difficult doing any KYC there due to the vast land mass. Why they all go with Niger and not any other northern state is what I don't know. |

DeadPresidents: Jigga does it with wit and humour, that's the difference You are an intelligent gee so you can listen to grimy stuff and catch the humour and laugh. But I found a good percentage of niggas can't catch wordplay and seperate wit from reality. They then start living thug lifestyle based on lyrics that are meant for entertainment I personally prefer raps about guns, drugs and violence to conscious raps, but it must be funny. That's why 38 Spesh is my favourite rapper now 4 Likes |

See, it is what it is. This is not about shitting on any state. It's about calling out people who complain about Nigeria being bad and the crimes going on yet laud and promote artistes and works which glorify fraud and are daily anthems for fraudsters. It's exactly how Naira Marley's movement started till his adherents got bolder. Johnny Drille has been my best Nigerian artiste in the last 6 years. From the same state, not just for his quality of music but for his scandal-free easygoing lifestyle. I've stated this over the years. He's the only Nigerian artiste I follow on Twitter. So it's not about state of origin. Never mind that he's not topping charts or the rave like BNXN, Iyanya, Young Jon and a few others from my state. This isn't me shitting on another state. See how I can be honest to state something good about others regardless of their states of origin? Try that sometime. Fraud music is fraud music whether it's your cousin or some stranger. But any intelligent person would know this. Shalli-whatever music is for a certain demography. You know this, I know this, we all know this. Deny all you want. 1 Like |

Ibime: Talking about drugs, violence and profiling, I had a funny encounter yesterday. Me and two of my Naija gees linked up at Warschauer Straße. If you know Warschauer, it is the basically within the party epicenter of Berlin (east of the Old Berlin Wall) and home to probably the most infamous nightclub in the world, Club Berghain. Anybody that watched the Netflix series, Fall of the house of Usher must have caught the reference where the black sheep of the family undertook to build the next Berghain for orgies and licentiousness Me and my guys are all dark skinned, 6ft plus and hoodied up with jewellery on. Now we were huddled in a corner discussing Naija problems, 3 muscular, tall black guys (we’re all taller than 6 feet) and this white dude and his girl come up to us like "Sprichst du Englisch oder Deutsch?" We say, "English" He says, "Excuse me but do you have some cocaine" We reply, "No" and he saunters off into the night Of course we’re black, tall and muscular with locs, ice and ear piercings so we must be dope boys At this point, I just accept profiling as basic human nature 4 Likes |

Kimbeast: Yes. Burna Boy, for most parts, sings about Nigerian socio-politico-economic issues. Smoking and seeming raunchiness aren't crimes. Oh! And he's got good lyrics too, including for introspection. That's why Fela is still great, never mind the smoking and philandering he indulged in. Those aren't crimes. Fraud is a crime. Shalli-whatever sings about fraud. That's the difference. Any other diversionary tactics? Stay on topic, man. |

DeadPresidents:You are right...except separating Kelly handsome from Olu. Na same same ...2007 and 2008 Kelly was just a copy cat who wanted to chop in the yahoo music windfall. Olu maintain made it hot, next year, Kelly rode on it. The word Maga goes al9ng with yahoo. So it's same. When I see this shalli, I just remember Bella. Maybe shalli is taking it away and sidelining Bella. Rememebr Naira made it hot for this era, Bella and a few rode on it...now shalli made it hotter. IMO, shalli is just a lucky guy. Zero talent. Lyrics empty. When wizzy said that thing about him, I thought he was a singer. I dey hear his song for streets but didn't know who was that. The song "e don cast" felt like something done by one learner that just wanted to blow with a commercial chorus ( easy to sing type). I didn't even know say na the shallipoppi dey rap abi sing that. Funny thing is I got to know who be this shallipoppi last two weeks. Ah ah...I said " I thought this guy na singer"? Is that rap he dey do so? Anyway, I didn't criticize him on his delivery or flow type cos different style dey...and he can change the pattern of afro beats or afro rap. ..just as drill and contemporary US rappers have changed rap flows entirely. I tried to listen to what he was saying. .mind you, rapping about yahoo isn't my problem, but being creative and imaginative with it..I just dey hear "commot for road, commot for road"....lol. I said this guy get huge grace wey dey follow am. Now when you look at naija streets, nobody care about your lyrical prowes. Shalli delivers what they want to hear. -Fraud stories gladens the hearts of our youths -Dirty talks about fucking and messing with girls is something that weirdly excites women. You can see how his lyrics and odumodus renders women useless but women are still their biggest listeners. A female friend posted "if she no Bleep o...she no suckk"..blah blah.. that was the first time I saw the lyrics and didn't even know where it came from. Na women I dey hear dey sing am pass I was in Asaba on 7th jan...went to one joint and they were blasting this "money dey body, Para dey body" ..zlatan verse was madly energetic. I loved zlatan verse in it. I watched that obapluto song on TV last week..and the hook was very very good. The Benin legend is the reason that song made sense. Whatever shalli was saying there was totally empty. Bottom line is....Naija youths are mostly into fraud..and shalli is like their new face now. Na the youths go decide who go blow. The boys love him for the fraud lyrics, girls love him for dirty lyrics. *modified* Also, the amapiano style beat he uses in his songs makes them appealing and danceable. They will fit in perfectly into club selections. 11 Likes 4 Shares |

Emaprince: Can’t lie Shallipoppi has charisma. Personally, I feel we humans don’t really buy the music, we buy into the cult of personality surrounding the creator of the work of art. The work of art here can be music (FC or 30 BG), literature (Soyinka vs Achebe), Art (Van Gogh vs Picasso) Lyrics are the least important thing when trying to become a commercially successful artist. Personality is key. See how Naira Marley basically created a religion with followers based on force of personality 1 Like |

Kimbeast: Yes. Let's rewrite the Criminal Code tonight on Nairaland as long as it'd make us rationalize fraud music by Shalli-whatever. Smoking and promoting fraud are the same. I mean, if Cynthia flirted with multiple guys, let's criminalize it in theory just to justify Bethy who's actually engaging in prostitution which is a crime. Screw the Criminal Code! Write yours tonight on this thread, man. This defense of Shalli-whatever must be won at all costs, no? Again, fraud music is fraud music. See? I still came round to the point. |

DissTroy:You are just dancing around. After goofing on how smoking illegal substance is not a crime you are now typing out of point. You made a post on people promoting artists which songs promote crimes. Something you are very much guilty of. No difference between fraud music and songs/music video promoting the taking of illegal substance. Both are promoting crimes and illegal vices. 8 Likes
