It is usually found inside bamboo sticks in the forest. We used to gather them in our farm in the village when I was with my grandmother. Never got to taste it which I regret. Everything na for sale then. |

| Re: Can You Eat These? (picture) by Ogboo001: 12:14pm On Feb 07, 2024 |
Yes, these are larva sourced from waned raffia palm tree which later metamorphosed to a kind of beetle found mostly in fresh palm wine. The Igbo name for this type of beetle is 'Akpakiri'. The other kind of larva is sourced from withered oil palm tree which metamorphosed to rhino beetle that you referred, Igbos call it 'Otugbu'. However, both are edible and nutritious.[You are a true born of your father. 👍👍👍] |

Correct meat way back.I can even eat it raw straight from the decaying palm tree. We call it " ite" pronounce -ee-tay! |

One man meat is another man's poison. If you can't eat another man's food, appreciate his courage or different taste and move on. Don't call them names cos of their choices. |

I ate it once in the villa I got it from fell decaying palm tree( the type that grows in a swamp we call it (ngwó) not the exactly palm tree. I got them plenty and gave an elder cousin to prepare and left for an errand, I was later given a very small portion of it but I swear it was yummy and I haven’t had they opportunity of eating again. |

It's normally found it dead trees, and they are different species of it. There are ones that has something like spikes (but not sharp) it's also pinkish. Of all the types have seen, this is the only one I eat. We call it danwu (lol I can't spell the correct pronunciation. But it sounds like that) in ijaw |
