At what benefit has NIN and BVN to ordinary citizens been?

The major reason for NIN is to culp terrorism and banditry and the the major reason for BVN is to stop corruption. NIN and BVN has done more harm than good. No bandit or corrupted politicians have been arrested and charge through the use of BVN or NIN. This is just waste of money, time and resources.

Yes. Go to the network office and ask to link your NIN. The will register the SIM in your name and link it with your NIN.

I registered my SIM in 2015 but it shows another person's name when I checked it on MyMTN app. I went to fix it last week.

Are you sure? The same Glo that sent me a text saying my NIN has been verified and linked to my number is sending me another saying no number is linked to my NIN. I no sure again.

Almost every adult in Naigeeria is corrupt, why would anyone buy a sim linked with someone else's NIN? Why would also an official of NIN sell sims linked with people's NIN? It beats my jmagination.

It's not NIN officers that do such it's those guys registering SIMs that partake in those dastardly act without you notifying it. You might be a victim of what you don't know like you said, so it's better someone do the needful!

From your explanation, we can use the code to see who has been linked to our NIN and delink.

This probably means that the person owning the "fake" number which has been linked to our NIN can also use this code to delink us.

is it a game of who is faster ? sad

Whoever designed and architected the software solution to allow those registering SIM to be able to link to any number they desire should be arrested and prosecuted.

But no list of numbers is returned when you dial that code. I have 3 numbers linked but just one number is listed, which is the very one you used to dial. Am I missing something?

You may be right, because the would ask for your NIN number before registering your sim, i pressume, they d take down the numbers and use it to link more than one sim further without your knowledge obviously.

The sells them sims to non NIN holders who might use it for crimes.

Doesn't make sense jor. I tried it just now on my MTN SIM and it showed my two MTN lines attached to my NIN. So I have to check on my Glo line also to view my Glo SIM attached.

This means that If I don't have 9Mobile and Airtel SIMs and someone adds a number on these networks to my NIN, I will not be able to view it since I am not registered on the networks.

You know this is not true. For you to link any sim to a NIN, the name on the registered sim must match with the name on NIN. Also, your face ID is also matched with that on your NIN. So for anyone to take possession of such sim that is pre registered such must successfully modify the name on the pre-registered sim.

The only way some one can have a sim registered to another person and linked to someone's NIN is if the real owner misplaced it and chose not to look for it, or gave it out or if the sim reg attendant did dual sim registration on your behalve without your consent and kept one for fraud.

This is why you need to go to MTN care to link your NIN for MTN users.

Anyways, it doesn't hurt to check the numbers linked to your NIN.

I just checked mine now,i can see some unknown numbers linked to my NIN..This is being done by the sim reg guys just to hasten sim registration

I believe every Naigeerian citizens should or must have their own NIN, anyone who thinks they can ruin other innocent people's NIN by buying sims linked to innocent people's NIN to commit crimes with, well.. feel free to do so.. just make sure you hand yourself to police before a mad man like me finds you, if i find out that your sim is linked to my NIN. Nonsense!
