Alot of people were living in denial. We got to the final to play the host, a power house like Ivory coast, came to the thread all I was seeing was talk about spanking Ivory coast. On the back of the South Africa outplaying us in the semi final.
I think it was the moniker Forgiveness who said we should stay humble, that God rewards humility.
As a people I hope we take home a lesson from this episode.
humility una. The ivorians were not humble yet they won. Run it again and I would still be loud as before. The team did not play as usual but na fans optimism you dey blame.

Mujtahida:

How did that affect our play on the pitch? Omo fans can say they expect a spanking. Did our coach say so? Did our players say so?

This misdiagnosis is grating. It's really an immature and unrealistic way to think that fans on SM with their attitude whether positive or negative are responsible for the victories we've had and the loss today.

Mature analysis is that which analyzes our in-game approach rather than attributing this defeat to the attitude of fans. You no be small pikin na. Cos na secondary school pupil suppose dey think like this.
I feel you're majoring on the minor here. I never said the fans were responsible for the loss. It was just a foot note in my comment which you're blowing up for reasons I have no idea.
My initial comment was that the defence by passed the midfield and lumped it up to Osimhen majority of the game. We had no control whatsoever in the match as a result, we lost.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Joebie: 11:57pm On Feb 11
The game never changed. They kept on putting pressure in our defense until the likes of Calvin, Aina caved in. .
Odunayaw:
And after the goal?

Mujtahida:

I swear. It's just awful. I be fan. Then I no go believe my team will win. Even if we are playing Brazil, I can't go watch a match believing we will lose. What propels me to watch the match? Is it not that belief?

Omo na this sneaky pessimist worse than Blueelf.
The stance is a mockery to logic and smells of poor character.

I'm sure he even doesn't believe his nonsense were it club games. Haba

Na strategy cause that one. The intention was not to come out to play. This team can actually play when they want to. You could see that in the last few minutes.

You wishy-washy simpleminded thing who thinks everyone who points out the flaw in a system is háteful.

Our midfield was as good as dead. Our players were bragging about winning all over social media. We the pragmatic ones warned about being complacent. You the happy-go-lucky ones countered us for pointing out the obvious.

Exactly what we pointed out happened - complacency.

It's the same way you have blind faith in public officials and call out those who demand better as a hatérs of Nigeria, even when the system has to be rejigged.

I beg to disagree. All iwobi needs is a decent CM. We will see the best of iwobi. The coach asked too much from him. It was just like telling okocha, oruma, or ebiede to defend. The coach asked too much from him. Pls.cut him some slack. Nwanne.

Nwakali plays in the lowly Chaves, and yet guys from Mamelodi Sundows were knocking our super stars around, and we were lucky to escape.

Unfair analysis. Iwobi was made to do what he is normally not suited for. If it were up to me I would play him behind the strikers in a 352 formation. The only problem is who gets to complement him in the muddle

Painful but good. If Peseiro won, it will be another Jose Mourinho brilliant praises. When actually, PARK BUS SHOWS THE PERSON CANT COACH WELL.

Finito.
But you won't say this when Spain loses oo. In the last three WCs Spain - the archetypical tiki taka team - have been horrible. I recall how vehemently you defended them after Qatar 22. You don't see it that tiki taka is the flashy variation of negative football.

Ultimately it boils down to what you like and what you don't like even when the results are the same. In fact, this kind of negative football took Morocco to the semi and took naija to the finals. Do I like negative football? No but it's not in your place to condemn it while lauding tiki taka.

Please, you people should leave Iwobi alone and leave these players alone

You could tell from the Cameroon game that they were getting tired and the coach didn't think to allow them rest.

They were running on barely any fuel by the time we played Angola and just dragged tired legs to the finals. The rotation was poor, players like Raphael Onyedika were barely allowed to play.

I didn't even know CIV had Kessie and Haller until Round of 16. I had forgotten they were on the team. So, they had enough strength to carry through the remaining 4 games against a tired side in Nigeria.

Everytime you people want a scapegoat from one of the players. Last time, Okoye was the easy one, but as he no dey again, we're back to our favourite scapegoat Iwobi.

Iwobi is bad, Iwobi is bad, yet the two times we conceded vital goals, Iwobi was not on the pitch. Make una better go find who dey do una.

I'm seeing niggas dropping Nwakali as usual, una don dey drop Nwakali name for the last 5 years, shebi he sef play for the last AFCON, wetin we win for there? And since then, dem don ghost him papa, yet, una no go gree us hear word with him name. Nwakali in big 2024.....abeg abeg abeg.

Let's all be honest and this is no bashing any body, he should make his way out of the team, there is no use. After over 70 caps is this what we will continue to get haba. People can make excuses about the formation, but you need more from your experienced players in the team. We can't continue to spoon-feed Iwobi, if he's not willing anymore he should be excused. That Ghanaian analyst picked him out as our weakest link teams could exploit and it has happened as he said it. If Angola knew better dem for pepper us more than they did.

It really says alot about the quality of football in afcon if jpes's negative/defensive football could give us the highest number of big chances created. No wonder we always fall in the world stage.

Dem wan kill that boy for midfield, but ask these people which serious team operates a 2-man midfield and they will come up empty.

Everytime Iwobi this and Iwobi that, meanwhile midfield is non-existent and Iwobi is carrying everything on his head.

Get Iwobi some decent support for once, and if he doesn't perform, you can chat rubbish. You put a nigga in a 2-man midfield and then insult him for being run ragged. If na you dey 2-man midfield, you go survive?

Abeg, if you people want to vex, pour your anger on that plague in Aso Rock and leave Iwobi TF Alone!

we need ball-playing midfielders, that's why we can't boss games, and is putting too much pressure on our defence and keeper. Let's not be sentimental about this Iwobi, that team will never improve if we continue this way. we need midfielders who can impose themselves on our game. Is Iwobi that kind of player?

Nwabali had no business conceding two goals today, it's unfair to that guy who had saved us so many times in this tournament.

You can't even read or comprehend to begin with. If you could, you'd be able to critique intelligently instead of having blind faith. Everyone kept complaining about the midfield. Everyone but you and your faux -patriotic cohorts who questioned the nationality of any of us who dared asked questions.

But you have less than the intelligence of a cuttlefish. A rodent would have realized the obvious faster than you.

Whose fault? Onyeka was overwhelmed.

Iwobi lost it in this game. He should have pretended he was injured instead of strolling and loosing the ball.
