Ndidi was missed. Onyeka covered good defensively and was fantastic with his forward drives, but his passing range is a let down. He is also not a genuine controller.
Iwobi that has a better "passing range" what did he do? Is he not supposed to compliment Onyeka's inabilities as the "main man" in midfield?

Onyeka did the things he was expected to do and he did very well all through the competition... Who even gave him a chance?

iwobi should make way because of the Bokoharam football aka tournament football Nigeria played, oga iwobi is not the problem of this team, get good CM and Dlp and push iwobi forward. If we drop iwobi na Aribo we go use?

Let's continue to deceive ourselves, we have been figured out, from today no African team will dread the Eagles, kotinu

I have never been a fan of Mourinho, but that man has won a lot of trophies with his "negative tactics." That he's having a tough time now, doesn't mean you should downplay his efforts.

I have been a Barca fan all my life, and possession football is my forte, but calling Peseiro's tactics a fluke is like putting a dent on the efforts of those players, who worked so hard to get to the final.

Some countries played good football and got eliminated. Will you call them flukes too? The South Africa that outplayed us, where are they today?
You are an objective person. Teams have played possession football and have both won and lost tournaments. Spain played it and won in 2010. 2014 they were bundled out. Teams have played negative football and won and lost tournaments. The Italians have repeatedly used the dreaded catenacchio method to win tournaments. They won the last Euro. They have since not qualified for the WC back to back.

Just imagine that intentional elbow foul from Kessie on Zaidu, no foul, no yellow, no VAR check.

CAF just destroyed what they built from the start of this tourney.

Shame.

This will have switched the dynamics of the game in our total favour, considering we were a goal up. I wonder how the Ivorians would have handled that.

we need ball-playing midfielders, that's why we can't boss games, and is putting too much pressure on our defence and keeper. Let's not be sentimental about this Iwobi, that team will never improve if we continue this way. we need midfielders who can impose themselves on our game. Is Iwobi that kind of player?

Nwabali had no business conceding two goals today, it's unfair to that guy who had saved us so many times in this tournament.

Where will you get the midfielders you think you need?

Like someone said, you pope want a Rolls Royce with Camry budget. You need a coach that knows how to fix players in the right roles.

Everytime Iwobi this and Iwobi that, this was the same way you people did not allow Mikel's name to rest until he retired and ran away from your issues. You people will use your bad mouth to attack players that give their best to the team, then when they ghost you lot you will call them ingrates.

Please, sit down and write letter to NFF so they can give you the midfielders you think you deserve and will be willing to play for you. Until then, you will manage Iwobi like that. He will not die for you people to be happy.

Our midfield needs to be worked on big time. We lost this game because we couldn’t hold the ball.
This is what you get when you go to a tournament with only one supposedly "creative" midfielder.

I said it before that none of our wingers will start at Royal Antwerp, considering how Royal Antwerp likes to play.

Our wingers were the biggest disappointment this final. This tactics relied so much on the wingers to hold their own and push attacks. Abeg we no get wingers. See wetin adringa play for CIV.

Nwakali plays in the lowly Chaves, and yet guys from Mamelodi Sundows were knocking our super stars around, and we were lucky to escape.
Pls don't remove the part that he is earning less than 2k per week. We need a CM. Even if he is playing in Fernando po. We need complementing bodies in that MF. DF, CM, AM. Our attacking trident is good. Nwabali has stepped up to be counted. Blood in Tosin for the DF. Finish. Any one is free to attack me. Shit no dey dey inside belle dey smell. Maybe we should have waited for a top euro league GK too. Brink in any CM, try him out, finish. That MF finally came home to haunt us.

Super Eagle performed beyond my expectations.

The lads gave it their all.

I am super proud of them.

We go again some other time.

It's been a long ride. I enjoyed every bit of it.

I feel you're majoring on the minor here. I never said the fans were responsible for the loss. It was just a foot note in my comment which you're blowing up for reasons I have no idea.
My initial comment was that the defence by passed the midfield and lumped it up to Osimhen majority of the game. We had no control whatsoever in the match as a result, we lost.
The midfield issue is rather the side note to your comment. The substance which you have hammered on repeatedly is the over-confidence of the fans

To be honest, we didn't deserve to be in the finals. This team has plenty of work to do. The coach has been riding his luck so far but everyday no be Christmas.

1. Peseiro's strategy is poor. Just score one and defend for your lives. Very lazy way to coach. No backup plan in case you concede, nothing.

2. Osimhen has been below par. I dare anybody to point at a single good thing that he did throughout today. Just causing fouls and limping around aimlessly. Ighalo was a FAR better and more impactful striker for us than Osimhen. Full stop.

. There MF was working and winning the 2nd balls in dangerous areas. Problem is not the wingers because before they even get the ball CIV have already regrouped.

Those heaping blames on Iwobi don't actually see, if there is any cohesion in the team, Iwobi and Bassey are notable figures. Nwakali and midfielders like Ifeanyi Matthew are what this team needs, plus good coaching. Nwakali started only one game at the last AFCON, what do you expect from such meagre minutes.

Nwabali is not who we think he is. He has potential, but we are not out of the woods yet in terms of our GK search. That first goal wouldn't have happened if he was correctly positioned.

The search must continue.

we had a goalkeeping crisis before this tournament, where do we get the keeper from? so who says we can't get ball-playing midfielders? Mikel was lambasted until he started putting in some performances for the team. The same CIV in 2013, there was a clever interception Mikel made to dispossess Yaya Toure of the ball, but for that, CIV would have equalized when we were leading 2-1. That's what you expect from your experienced players. How long are we going to continue to make excuses for players who should raise their game.

Someone on this thread said that it's underperformance for Nigeria to be in the semi-finals 15 times and only win AFCON 3 times and I agree cos you need your best and experienced players to make that difference. Tell yourself the truth, is Iwobi that kind of player?

He gave Ekong the opportunity to win player of the tournament. If he took all those penalties by himself, na 3 goals and player of the tournament straight.

I don't even understand why Iwobi and Chukwueze had to start this game. It was clear that immediately Iwobi was removed against SA, we actually began playing better. Clearly, that midfield should have been Onyeka and Alhassan.

I wonder what devil moved Peseiro today.

Ndidi is no better passer than Iwobi yet Iwobi was atrocious tonight just as he was against SA.

Ndidi is way ahead of Onyeka in the game of passing.
