Previous administration was clueless, seems this one doesn't even know the difference between their left and right.

Yet, they claim all knowing when you try to advise them lol

This is the way to go.

Why store up food in warehouses outside of the market environment and create artificial scarcity so you can maximize profit at the expense of your fellow citizens?

As long as those warehouses were loaded by Street boys, they can always be located.

Remembered those days of "essential commodities" in the late 80's. Every hoarded commodity discovered was auctioned by the military to the general public at specified prices.

Hoarding of food should be designated as TREASON.
I dont get, is the foood owned by government or a govt agency? Imahine you as a farmer, FG cones to your warehouse to bitch with you because they believe you are hoarding food? Does your post make semse to you?

This is extremely wrong. They may not be hoarding it. Business men normally hold their goods in warehouses, I have done supermarket before. You sell it gradually in your shop until it finishes. When you empty people's warehouses, what next will you sell? What message are you also passing to business men? It also very easy to target people you hate. Northern leaders are always making silly mistakes
Before you sell off the ones you have, you purchase new goods and keep. Its better than hoarding it to create scarcity. We are talking about home grown produce and not imported ones.

APC have turned Nigeria upside down, imagine a business owner don't have right to import goods in large quantities and sell gradual simple because Tinubu and his quark economic team does not know what they are doing

Their is no shortage of food but INFLATION.

This is their tactics to fight price by fighting business people that took a risk by betting against Nigeria.
Will it bring down the prices of petroleums?
Will it bring down the increased school fees by the government in tertiary institutions?
Will it bring down the prices of cement?
Will it bring down the price of dollar?

That is how Buhari evil campaign made all the rich men where I live took all their luxury car to Abuja (not to provoke the talakawas).
Buhari started the disastrous development ooo.

So you believe the reporthuh?

Maize sold between 32,000 - 40,000 during harvest last year.

They want those in food business to distribute it free but dollar, cement, iron & steel products, oil & gas products, other commodities & services should skyrockethuhhuh

Let the government buy the products at prevailing market prices and share FREE the people, if they really care for the people.

Lots of people don't know about storage business, they'll buy goods during harvest because it's cheaper then, and store over a long period of time until when there's an increase. It's funny when i heard federal government about releasing food bank, i know this people will buy it up and stock. I'll also not blame them that much, federal government should open our land borders and also reduce import duty charge.

Delusional, even every business men release all the foods in their warehouse, what is the purchasing power of the citizens??
Government should tackle their incompetency first, business men and women are out there to maximize profit. If Government bought foof directly from farmers just like the business men, the citizens can go and buy at less price or subsidize rate.
Re: Kano Seal 10 Warehouses Hoarding Food Worth Millions Of Naira by MadamExcellency: 7:03am On Feb 12, 2024
Stop this nonsense immediately before it degenerates into 1984 Buhari's military regime. This is a precursor to intense hunger and starvation when Buhari locked up warehouses and sold the food using the military boys.

If these farmers or middlemen refuse to restock. We are finished. It happened in 1984 and the result was extreme hunger and kwashioko.

If they are truely hoarding, then the govt us on the right track .
Nigerians are just wicked .How there you wake up in the morning and see a 100 % increasement on something you just bought a day a ago without no justification for it .
Even the greedy one selling on the street too are major problem. They increase price fir no reason.Seller A is for 500 , seller B 700 before u know seller A too will increase it to 700.When those distributors too see how much they are gaining ,then they will increase there own price too and so the story goes .
The unrepentant tribalist on this platform will come here to criticize every actions of the government.Even if its the best action any government can take .
Its sad situation when you wake up every and wish your country evil .
It shall never be well with all of you that wish this country evil .
Amen

This Government specializes in fighting businesses. If you force these businesses to sell off their maize stocks at 20% loss, two things will definitely happen:

1. These cheap goods will immediately be bought by those “Indians” owing feed mills. Majority of maize is consumed in poultry. These price drop will only be enjoyed by feed mills. Don’t even thing they will reduce their feed prices.

2. These Warehouse owners will buy dollar to repatriate their losses leading to further hardship and pressure on fx.
Re: Kano Seal 10 Warehouses Hoarding Food Worth Millions Of Naira by psucc(m): 7:06am On Feb 12, 2024
You call it hoarding? A businessman that decides to invest his money and stock up goods in a warehouse you call it hoarding? A simple read of your commerce textbook will do the needful.

By the way, so long as the FX continues northward, Customs reviewing charges everyday on imported goods, inflation is alive.

These people hoarding food were given incentives by the previous government, they did not just even sell at high prices but completely hoard the food to sell higher later or export.

This is exactly what I feared. The wholesaler would have large quantities of goods in a warehouse ... .middlemem would come to buy in bulk. The governor put an immediate end to bulk sale .... the goods are left in the warehouse. Now the wholesaler is accused of hoarding and his goods confiscated. How can this be right or lawful? What next? ... enter people houses and accuse them of hoarding .... because they have a bag of rice?
