Ningishzida:Dude, is it only Americans that have legalized the use of guns? Why do you guys always use the US as a case study. And people always talk about how guns are abused but never about how it is saving many. |

harryboyng:You only speak this way because you don't live in a danger zone and your life & that of your family is currently under zero threat. Don't put too much trust on security personnel. Even army won't risk their lives most of the time to protect some strangers |

The sample data is extremely too small to say this a reflection of a population. How can you use just a little over 300 sample data point to infer about a population of over 100 millions. trash trashhh |

Hotacetone:Arguments in favor of, & against gun rights are both valid. But I feel there would be more unresolved gun violence if the police are yet to get the basics right. |

Ningishzida: I'm in support of gun laws...... Every well meaning citizen should be able to put up a basic defence of his space. |

Hotacetone:..then the mass shooting will be more worse and it will increase more and more when many nigerians are given gun or have right to owe guns...nigerians are not smiling |

ufotunang:Dude.. people who need guns for crime probably already have it. It is not that hard to get. Someone that doesn't want to acquire a weapon because it is illegal might also not want to do something illegal with it once he gets it legally. Think about this. The kind of mass shootings you talk about are all committed by white people, I can't tell you why but it's a good thing we don't have many whites here |

Hotacetone: But creating state police first is better as they will know the nooks and crannies of the environment. It’s like setting up vigilante groups in every local govt in the state. If everyone have a gun. No one is safe. At any verbal issue. Someone will die. The death rate becomes much. But with the state police. Well trained and armed. They get to know everyone in the environment. Kidnapping will be a thing of the past. |

With the rate of anger over the economic situation of the country, legalizing gun rights is a big RISK! |

Roger3D:The corrupt politicians are taking advantage of this and that's why they don't bother much to provide good governance. Since the security agencies are the only ones with firearms the politicians know they can always use them to subdue the masses from revolting and asking for better governance. The masses needs to be armed and the advantages outweighs the disadvantages. |

ufotunang:Mass shootings is a problem among the white community in America. Nigeria is a different place. The day Nigerians start owning guns is the day our politicians will start providing good governance |

Iamnotfearyou:You forgot politicians being afraid of a revolution and they will start providing good governance. It will really solve many problems. |

Hotacetone:..ok in nigeria where we normally always have husband and wife quarrel and have misunderstanding, boyfriend and girlfriend quarrel, neighbours quarrel, friends quarrel, landlord and tenant quarrel, politcial party supporters quarrel... imagine all these set of people quarrelling with gun...they will use gun to kill each other or use the gun to settle the quarrels and misunderstanding.....and a country where majority of nigerians are living in poverty hunger hardship unemployment, frustration and anger due to the bad economy and they are with gun...they use the gun to commit crime and use it for negative activities |

ufotunang:You might be wrong man. It's safer to kill someone with a knife than with a gun because you might not escape the consequences when someone hears the shot. I've lived in a town where 90 percent of the residents have guns in their houses and it has been like that for more than a decade, yet all these crimes you mention never occur. Robbers and killer herdsmen are terrified of coming close. It's the safest town I've ever lived in. By the way, how often do you hear of people in the barracks shooting themselves up? Yet they fight & quarrel all the time |
