It's incredibly annoying when people claim Nigeria is broke or poor. Whenever the masses demand basic necessities, politicians and those abroad often use the excuse of Nigeria's supposed poverty to justify their inaction. Yet, funds magically appear for useless projects, lavish purchases for government officials, and sponsorship of religious institutions.

As someone pointed out earlier, if the APC can win elections despite cash and fuel shortages, it's a grim sign for Nigeria's future, and I share that sentiment.

Honestly, Nigeria didn't seem ready for independence when it was granted, considering the current state of affairs.

Which MC Oluomo? The same one that is now an orphan in NURTW Lagos ?

Eeez like u people have not been following the news of late in the social media space; particularly TikTok.

The gist is MC Oluomo miscalculated by taking a shot at NURTW president seat; instead of trying to cement his seat for second term he gambled with the idea of running for NURTW leadership at the national level. Most of the Lagos Branch chairmen saw it as an opportunity for them to have him replaced with Tafa Sego who he had mentioned in the past that he will handover to once he's done with his term as NURTW Lagos chairman.

So over the past 2 months all the branch chairmen have been mounting pressure for MC to step aside and handover to Tafa Sego peacefully. They kept on making different videos subtly suggesting violence may erupt if MC remains. Chief of them was Istijabah who heads the Tricycle union.

Long and short , they secured interim victory when Sanwoolu invited Sego and MC for meeting at the end of which MC announced on camera that Sego is the incoming Lagos state chairman while he now has govt backing to move to Abuja. Immediately after that day, most of the transporters have replaced MC's sticker with Sego's sticker on their buses and in parks.

In fact, MC's right hand man Koko zaria has jumped ship and now with Sego. The branch chairmen didn't stop there, they kept making videos of how MC didn't do anything for the union other than marrying wives and sending his children abroad while he kept levying them. They even warned against Lagos state govt backtracking at the die minute to ask MC to come back to Lagos.

Now word on the street is those that will go as delegate from Lagos to vote at the national level of NURTW are even threatening not to vote MC.

Shey na person wey wan become governor be that for Lagos ?

Interesting. I completely missed this

Also You are right - i no dey do til tok.

These folks will never learn. Imagine trusting the Nigerian government to honor agreements.

The last time they went on strike I said it here that they should hold on as long as possible even if the strike last for years, they should wait for the government to implement whatever promises they agreed to first before calling off the strike if not they’ll be back to the beginning of their struggles in few months time.

Nigerian Fg doesn’t obey court orders and doesn’t honor agreements unless such orders and agreements favor them. Very funny country.

I should know this since we had a similar point pop up last year and I dug up posts of yours to corroborate my stance. Heck! You were defending Buhari right up to the cash crunch period then switched when you thought it was to work against BAT. Right on this thread.

petrol is 1.29 US Dollars per litre

so assuming the current batch was brought in when dollar was 1200
that is 1548 - 568 which means a subsidy of 980 / litre

you could simply do that small calculation instead of hopping on gejs dk tongue

gej and buhari were bad presidents

GEJ was a spineless spenthift who let nigerias money run through his fingers - buhari was a project man stuck in the past who wasted the small money we had on misguided projects. the two truths are coexisting

if you want to lie to yourself that gejs actions are not part of what set nigeria on this path, feel free to engage in 20/100 hindsight

Why is your man tinubu, who is a good president still paying subsidy? I thought he said no more subsidy on his Inauguration Day? Your man keeps proving that he can’t keep to his words. In 1997 he said he doesn’t believe in one Nigeria, yet he still went ahead to campaign for president in the same country he said he doesn’t believe in.

Someone even did a video advising Sego to beware of the nollywood actresses that will be trying to cross over to his side.

let him fully remove it so we can start paying n2000 / litre . is that what you want? because i see people complaining bitterly about the skyrocketing cost of living, and you are defintely among them.

so for the purpose of performative activism, you are calling for tinubu to completey erase this reinstated subsidy which will lead to even more inflation

make it make sense .

Or maybe there was no need to remove it in the first place. At least, till certain measures were put in place.

You can't on one hand praise him for taking the hard decision to remove it and still praise him for returning it.

the funny thing is most of us here are adults with responsbilities
and we know how it goes.

once your income has reduced you will adjust your lifeteyle or be forced to adjust
we did not adjst our lifetyle and now we are being forced to adjust.

others have outlined exactly why we are where we are. if you want to believe there is some sort of magic where our reserves will suddnely grow, our oil production will suddenly jump im all ears

i am not praising him for returning it - but i recognize that with the current state of things, he may have no other choice. unless we want to accelerate the riots everyne is warning about

maybe the 2.3 trillion being owed NNPC was a fable
maybe NNPCs subsequet refusal to remit to FAAC was also a fable

like i said, most of us here are adults so we should be able to understand a situation when you are broke , have refused to course correct and your obligations have caught up with you.

On further reflection, Roland17 u were spot on yesterday calling out the hypocrisy of the Sultan and the entire North . Peter Obi made a tweet the other time about the poverty in the north and his plans to lift them & the country out of poverty;

Northerners and southern APC members went on rampage online calling him all sorts of name; even when we showed them stats to back things up that Obi saying the north was poor and needed pulling out of poverty was fact ; they turned deaf ear claiming the north wasn't poor as Obi alleged. Bashir Ahmad wey dey chop sara money as social media SA under Buhari dey chat shiit and our southern brothers here dey pander to his yeye rhetorics.

Now it took all of them 8 years to agree Buhari was a disaster. Smh undecided
I agree with Roland17.

Where were all of them when Buhari left us on autopilot and the country went to the dogs?
