My partner is seriously suffering from chronic hives. It started as mere itches. When it starts itching, I try preventing her not to scratch it, but when she can’t hold it anymore and scratches her skin, it blows out, within minutes it’s almost all over her skin, other times just her hand or thigh alone. Other times it’s just a little patches. And they don’t last more than 2 to 3 hours. It fades way. There are times she applies dermatol on the skin. It clears it away. We both went to a doc the first time and he diagnosed it to be an insect bite. He prescribed some drugs for her. To our surprise, the drugs suppress it and it doesn’t even itch her nor appear on her skin. But immediately the drugs finishes, after three to 4 days, it starts itching little by little and blows out again. She alone went to another hospital in another state, they did blood test on her and diagnosed it’s a mosquito bite. The doc told her the mosquitoes injected another persons blood into her blood stream. That’s what caused the hives outbreak. She was given injection and some drugs to take for 10 days. She finished all the does, it seemed to have lessen down. Then she took herbal medicine as well (up to a week after the drugs given to her finished)
The herbal medicine seemed to have worked too, we can’t tell if the drugs given to her at the hospital did the work or the herbal medicine that lasted up to a week. All the while she was taking the drugs and the herbal medicine, the hives appear just in small patch. It didn’t itch her. So yesterday it came out again. Like almost all over her body. The drugs given to her at the hospital and the herbal medicine has finished. Does anyone here knows the cause of it, and how to stop it permanently? It’s making her uncomfortable. Once it comes all over her body, she just want to get naked and keeps scratching. I haven’t experienced this before and I’m very fine.(her partner)

Below is a photo I sourced on the Internet. She’s not here with me at the moment.

hbot and hives: Man, cry no more. The best thing you can do for her is hyperbaric oxygen therapy (hbot). HBOT has a lot of positive effects and can tackle hives. Though you need more serious investigation to get a diagnosis; the actual picture is also important. That not withstanding hbot can help. Call if you are interested. You will never regret it.

She needs to find what triggers it.
My son had this a couple of weeks ago, first time ever. We don't know the trigger yet but we took him to the hospital and he was given hydroco.rtiso.ne shots that immediately suppressed the itch and swelling. Then steroids were also prescribed in tablets and antihistamines (piriton).
Note that prolonged use of steroids isn't advisable so she really needs to find the triggers. ( for me, sometimes this appears wheni sweat a lot, found out I was allergic to my own sweat. I'm not a sweat-er at all, I hardly ever do and the few times I sweat, I get these.)

Home remedy used was baking powder in paste, applied to the swelling. It reduced the swelling and itching.
Cold showers. Very cold. Reduces the swelling and the itching. In fact cold showers before applying the baking powder paste or calamine lotion.
Calamine lotion also helped.
She should load on vitamin C
I read that ginger helps a lot cos it has strong antiinflammatory ability. I use it for my cold and cough. Grate, soak in hot water and drink warm. It should be a constant thing if she wants to keep the hives at bay. ( I didn't use this for my son as the hives already reduced upon using baking powder paste)

Yoruba's call it Egbesi or okitipi

Sorry about your partner with the hives problem. Its either she has a nerve problem or an allergy issue.

This is easily remedied.

I am an alternative medicine practitioner in Ghana and have what would fix the problem for you.

You can email me at adamslaseio@gmail.com with a full medical history of your partner such as

1) when it all began or when it was first noticed

2) other noticeable symptoms they might have

What kind of doctor would tell her that mosquitoes injected someone else's blood into her? That is just crazy.

Do send me an email.

Hello there and I hope this helps or works for you.

My dad developed a severe case of hives well into his late 50s.

The GP prescribed antihistamines which we were religiously taking hut sometimes it cones back. This cannot be cured bit can be managed well.

We then got talking a Chinese lady at our local church who recommended 'mint leaves'. She said cook it or boil it(strain the water and drink it like tea) morning and night.

So the journey of these leaves commenced. We couldn't find it anywhere. I then went to Nigerian/African shop to ask. They didn't understand what I was after so I googled mint leaves in Yoruba then found something called 'efirin'

So we cooked this efirin as soup and drank it. And it worked. He is still taking the antihistamines for some itching but we haven't experienced any more swellings. He also attends regular blood tests(its something in the blood apparently).

The efirin is incorporated into diet at least once in 2weeks.

Good luck

Try drinking bitter leaf juice, 2glasses in a week. I know of someone who this helped.

I don't know if this is 4years too late, but this an allergy, go a a pharmacy and buy an Antihistamine tablet for allergy, take morning noon and night. I suffer from this when I take alcohol, turns out my body lacks the ability to completely digest the toxins in alcohol. It gets worse in the cold. She should try finding what causes her allergies and stop taking it.

Right now I cannot remember the name since it’s been so long, go to a pharmacy and ask for a good allergy drug, best you get a prescription for it so you are certain your reaction is caused by an allergy. I figured mine out cause it only happens to me when I drink alcohol. I haven’t had any breakout since I reduced my alcohol consumption.

A bad case of hives.

You should try to find out if this a food allergy, environmental irritant or more exotic aetiology.
Hives develop when mast cells in the blood mediate release of histamine.

My 5 year old developed severe hives after ingesting local natural honey. We now know it was a protein from the bees in the honey causing that.

Try eliminating food items from her diet one by one or just see a dermatologist or immunologist.

Try placing her on a antihistamine or apply corticosteroid cream.

It's a common health challenge of different complications but can be handled depending on the cause.

Allergy or hormonal issues, perspiration or over sweating, excessive cold or exposure to sun and as well as infection Like lupus and mononucleosis etc and other factors can cause hives.

It affected me when I was little some good years ago. I don't know what was used to cure it. I think proper diagnosis need to be carried out aside the ones you have done. I don't believe in them that mosquito injected another person's blood.... In this case I think it has to do with allergy or infection though proper diagnosis is needed.

There are some Chinese curative and encapsulated herbal medicine that will be used to tackle it completely.

Figure out what causes it, and try to abstain from it
