TheGoodJoe: lol. Speak for yourself. You have no clue, but that doesn’t mean everyone else does not have a clue.. Do you think our lives revolve around only Nairaland? There are people here that are also on other football social networks, and they have heard about Tella and others. Everybody must not post, and if anyone posts about a certain player, do not make it look like it’s an achievement or a discovery. 3 Likes |

Watching Akanji today was thrilling. Guardiola played him as a left back but more of what I will term a standing side back. He was just brilliant to watch. Very safe with the ball. Easy decisions and also coordinated. Exactly what I would want to see from a defensive midfielder playing for us. Bravo Akanji. 1 Like 1 Share

charlesemeka85: I don't actually recall any transfer fee paid for him once he left Arsenal. Arsenal sent him on loan to seversl different clubs the last loan move was Porto B 😕 Imagine from Arsenal to Porto B 😯😯. Once his contract expired Arsenal dashed him for nothing in fact begged Huesca in the Segunda Division to take him. Huesca promptly loaned him to a lower club in the Segunda Division. Huesca tried to offload him for €300k but nobody was interested. So the illegally tried to terminate his contract. So you see Nwakali transfer fee costs are £00 NUTTIN 1 Like |

Question: To those railing against Nwakwali’s inclusion; name me two midfielders that would be better and have the long passing profile he possesses. I’ve seen every argument as to why not to include him (transfer fees too low, he’s in a relegation team etc) but I am not seeing anyone suggesting a replacement. Maybe they have but I have missed it. In Nigeria we like to complain but don’t offer any suggestions on how to improve. It’s just like the Iwobi matter. People will say Iwobi is not good enough or is a minus 1, but when asked for a replacement, they can’t name one. We took 25 players to AFCON and were allowed 27. If we took Nwakwali for 26 would that have stopped us from going to the final? Last last he plays 10-15 min in our final GS game and maybe he does something of note that might warrant further looks. At worst, he doesnt play the KO rounds. Like let’s make it make sense abeg. |

To answer your question, one of Nwakali’s key stats — ball recoveries — he averages 5.2 per game this season (compare to Onyeka 3.0, Ndidi 3.0, Aribo 2.5, Dele-Bashiru 3.3, Iwobi 4.6, Onyedika 6.3, Yusuf 5.8 ). You want to consider many factors like the strength of the opposition/league, the team’s style of play, as well as the specific role given to the midfielder amongst others. This is just stating that he brings more to the table than just being a dead ball specialist, top notch long balls delivery and passes (which is why he always has high numbers relatively in key passes) Recoveries are crucial for several reasons: 1. **Regaining Possession**: Recovering the ball allows a team to regain possession and control of the game. This is essential for maintaining pressure on the opponent and creating scoring opportunities. 2. **Transition**: moving quickly from defense to attack and vice versa. Recoveries help teams transition from defense to attack by quickly regaining the ball and launching counterattacks. 3. **Disrupting Opponent's Rhythm**: By disrupting the opponent's possession and passing rhythm, recoveries can disrupt their game plan and force errors or turnovers. 4. **Defensive Stability**: Recoveries contribute to defensive stability by preventing the opponent from advancing into dangerous scoring positions and reducing the number of shots on goal. 5. **Energy and Momentum**: Recoveries can energize a team and swing momentum in their favor, especially if they lead to scoring chances or successful counterattacks. Overall, recoveries play a vital role in both defensive and offensive aspects of the game. However, just like in some other key stats it is still a matter of how this translates to the team’s success Joezinho: 4 Likes 2 Shares |

The main cause of Nigeria's defeat in the AFCON final was the Super Eagles mildfield. The Ivory Coast mimicked Ghana's strategy of choking the middle to prevent us from competing in the world cup. In the middle, Angola and the Bafana Bafana used identical strategies, but Nigeria was fortunate to prevail before going to the final. This is the point at which Peseiro needs to concentrate on our mildfield for the time being. And I particularly want to that the guy who is being criticized here, that is playing for a relegation team, despite the fact that Nigeria has both championship players and benchwarmers on the same super eagles team. Let's be fair to Nwakali; the truth is that none of the current Eagles players are more adept at playing the position than Nwakali, not even Iwobi in certain areas i don't want to discuss today. We need to stop these protracted debates, hence JP needs to invite NWAKALI. And if you ask me, I have to admit that in the short minutes he played in that green jeysey, he really impressed me. 5 Likes |

LOOL You and this anti-Nwakali agenda ehn In all seriousness you make solid points about being cautious with the hype we place on a player we have barely got a look at especially as regards the SE. The only area where me and you might differ is if he deserves a call up. Next month friendlies are coming up so let's see how he performs. The worst that will happen is he drops a stinker which all of us on this thread will see with our korokoro eyes and the matter dies a natural death. On the flipside he turns out to be half decent in SE colours who could be reliable at least for the short term. charlesemeka85: 2 Likes |

MetalJigsaw: You have people that don't understand there is huge gulf between youthful expectations and senior professional football ⚽. Nwakali is a very poor quality football player this is the fact. He has been mediocre in every team he has played in. That's why he has remained in the backwaters of football. Chávez will get destroyed by majority of NPFL teams I would place serious money on Enyimba flogging Chavez blue and black. 1 Like |

komekn:You're just sounding as if if he gets invited for a friendly someone will die or the earth will fall, or the money in your bank account will reduce. Is he clubless or is he playing for free? Is he playing in Taiwan or india? Even though its Chavez that is the weakest club in the league what about Nsue that wrote his name in the history book of his country? Even in the AFCON provisional list he was in there which means Peseiro who is even Portuguese at least has him in consideration and he is being recognized so why the hell would you who is just a fan wage an outright war on his invitation? Your assertions are just emotions and bias daz all. 6 Likes 1 Share |
