This is Godwin Odiye the man that scored own goal that denied Nigeria what would have been her first WC appearance in 1978.Nigeria 1978 team would have been a golden generation that subsequent eagles teams would’ve find it hard to beat…..the team had Emma Okala,Christian Chuckwu,Segun Odegbami,Muda Lawal,Adokiye Aimesemeaka,Felix Owolabi,Kadiri Ikhana. If na dis generation Godwin Odiye for hear it o

Kog45: A golden generation that couldn’t outscore their opponents instead decided to use an own goal on a home soil as an excuse? Would the owngoal have mattered if the so called golden generation was leading their opponent by 2 or 3 goals? 11 Likes 3 Shares |

Nigeria's Osimhen & Boniface Makes 2024 Top 10 World Best Strikers; 1. Erling Halaand 2. Harry Kane 3. Kylian Mbappe 4. Victor Osimhen(NIGERIAN) 5. Lauaro Martinez(ARGENTINE) 6. Heung Ming Song 7. Victor Boniface(NIGERIAN) 8. Julian Alvarez(ARGENTINE) 9. Cristiano Ronaldo 10. Robert Lewandoski. (SPORT Bible) Nigeria missed Boniface in AFCON2023. We hope he'll be ready along Osimhen, for CAF WC Qualifiers and next year's afcon as well. Only Nigeria and Argentina have 2 players on the list. Congrats to them all. 6 Likes 2 Shares |

Kog45: They don't necessarily have to fight for the first shirt. We need good covers for Nwabali, unfortunately, Uzoho and Ojo can't give us that. We need to recreate that Enyeama, Ejide and Ayenugba era where we don't have to be scared when the first choice goalkeeper isn't available. For me, our team should be; Nwabali, Maduka and whoever comes top between Arthur and others who are yet to be tested. 6 Likes |

mrwilliams9: Dude I go around a lot of European football club academies, I have found it to be a BASIC SKILL that all the top performaning players can do pin point accurate. I will tell you that at least 20% of the boys from U15 level and above can ping the ball pin point accurate at 40 yards. It's a basic requirement not an exceptional skill. However, when that's all you can do it seems like a skill when it's really basic requirement. 1 Like |

komekn: It’s a basic requirement to play accurate, long passes but no one in our current SE set up has that ability to play consistently, accurate long passes. So again, please, recommend me a player that SE can call on that has that profile if it is not Nwakwali… That part I am still waiting for an answer on. Me: Invite Nwakwali, he has a skill set our current SE don’t have. At worst he plays rubbish and we are where we already were, at best, he does well. Others: No, Nwakwali is not good enough. He plays for a poor club, his salary is too low etc Me: Ok, no yawa. Who can we call on instead that can play accurate passes like him Others: ***silence*** We aren’t even trying to solve the issue, just rant against why someone should not be included. 6 Likes 2 Shares |

Joebie: You need to see it in context. Put any of Onyeka, Ndidi , Aribo, Dele-Bashiru, Iwobi those players in the Portuguese league and they will look like Ronaldinho and Yaya Toure joined together. This is ludicrous you are comparing stats of different level of football ⚽ leagues and assuming they are on par. Even your proposition lacks merit, he is getting all these supposedly outstanding statistics but his team remains at the bottom of the Portuguese league. His team has conceded the highest numbers of goals in the league 48 and have scored the second lowest number of goals. Your statistics are academic they are not articulated into high level performances. In addition the last three games Chavez has played Nwakali as a left winger. So what does that mean he is not good enough ❓ |

ChrisKels:Sir,we are talking about 1978 team when Africa had two slots. This team qualified for Montreal 1976 but returned home without participating due to protest against IOC for refusing to sanction New Zealand for touring apartheid South Africa which go against the United Nations rule. My point the team had solid build up from 1975 to 1980,winning Afcon and lost WC ticket on home soil in a painful way, scored own goal.Yes the team would have been a team to remember if they had participated in Olympics, qualified for 1978 WC but good the team won 1980 Afcon to tell you the team was good. Well, comparing them to present generation team,I will not do that but Christian Chuckwu,Muda Lawal,Segun Odegbami and Adokiye Aimesemeaka will shake any generational eagles team. 4 Likes |

MetalJigsaw: Let's examine your assertions and propositions and see what they are anchored on ⚓ substantive facts and rational ❓ What's the basis for national team selection ❓ Outstanding consistent top level performances in club and league. Taking into cognisance the quality of the league. Having this quasi balance score card appraisal framework. What then is the rational for Nwakali selection ❓ Since arriving at Arsenal as a youth player he has been in consistent regression from loans in the Eredivisie demoted very quickly to Dutch 2nd tier , then the indignity of Porto B, ( youth team) . Finally Arsenal dashed him to Huesca Segunda Division (no transfer fee) On arrival at Huesca he was immediately loaned out to an event lower Segunda Division team. Huesca then tried to sell him for €300k But nobody wanted him fact. Then Huesca tried to terminate Nwakali contract illegally before it's expiry, they were desperate to throw him away. Why 😧 too good ❓ He then goes to a Bankruptcy team that's at the bottom of the Segunda Division, Ponferridina. This his third year in the doldrums of Portuguese football. He gets relegated and once again nobody in la liga and or the Segunda Division wants him. Hundreds of coaches, analysts and managers have seen him in Segunda Division but NOBODY wanted him, but why ❓ He ends up taking a pay cut to play in a other poor level relegation club in the Portuguese league, Chavez. It's only people here that talk about Nwakali. He simply has done NOTHING to justify a call up to SE. So who is the sentimental and emotive one here ❓ And you have the audacity to call me emotively biased. |

komekn:So which player do you suggest that has a similar profile to his? Because our midfield needs it so badly. The Afcon really exposed us in that area and I bet Osimhen is inwardly praying and yearning for a decent supplier. 1 Like |
