Why use the word smuggling?

These are traders buying and selling (at mutually agreed, probably higher prices than obtainable locally), they only become smugglers if they avoid paying excise duties when levied for such...

The root issue here is the greed in all of us - trying to make too much money from everything even if our country dies in the process.

We should question ourselves on our trading practices that we call business smartness or sense.

This is a country we sell at 3 to10 times our cost price, doubling prices in ways not commensurate with causative factors - fuel or dollar increases (after eradicating lower cash denominations)
We produce shoes locally but want to sell at American designer rates;
We sew clothes locally but want to sell at Gucci's price;
We make furniture with our local wood and start calling millions;
yet turn around to blame the government for everything!

Assuming that you have a big family you're feeding and you limited resources to that do, but you find out that someone you ask or give the priviledge to be in charge of the foods items is dashing it out due to some personal benefit the person derive. Farmers can decide to sell their produce anywhere as long as they pay their duties.
Why can't the southerners also produce their food in large quantities. We are very very lazy and selfish in the south.
Rich men in the south doesn't find agriculture lucrative enough to invest while an Hausa farmers have tractors they collectively bought with the support of their rich men and politicians.
This is just a lesson. Una never see something!.

Most of this farmers collected loan if not grants both in cash, seedlings and farterlizers worth millions from FG, most of them will sell their products to Nigér and claim bandits attacked them.

Are we having shortage of food or cash to buy them? Even if they sell cheap in naija, many people can't afford it because naira has lost so much value. The only problem is that most of these guys in the North got government grants for farmers so they can sell at a reduced rate to Nigerians but they are now taking their harvests across border which may lead to scarcity and even more food inflation

I love warped thinking. So the EFCC officers should have closed the eyes and not stopped the smugglers because their job is not border patrol.

I know it is difficult for the likes of you to understand that smuggling is an economical crime. If it an economic crime, EFCC has jurisdiction.

Solution : we have to remove subsidy ( implying Nigeria has no power over criminals )

Food shortage : people are smuggling our food out of Nigeria . People are buying foods in some states and selling in other states .
Solution: start going after smugglers .

We need an intentional president. On the subsidy issue , catch any smuggler and burn the owner of the truck and the driver in the truck . Send a violent message .

On the shortage issue , reduce insecurity and help farmers produce more . Food will always be exported !

Government will never take responsibility and action . Always looking for who to blame for their uselessness . It is just a matter of time to start going after travel agencies for the massive brain drain and japa once it starts biting them .
