I agree with you. If FG agrees, how would state and organized private sector like MSME pay. Ajaero will plunge this nation into crises. He would soon get what he deserves

We will borrow money from China to pay the salaries. By then a loaf of bread would be sold for 50K since I Clarion would also come with the wage increase.

The right step to take is to strengthen the value of the naira instead of making everyone a millionaire with currency that is worthless. Besides, increasing the salaries of workers in Nigeria more than tenfold will cause a situation of hyperinflation, which will totally erode the purchasing power of the naira, thereby making the workers to be worse off economically. The lasting solution lies in strengthening the naira and reducing the prices of commodities, particularly food items. There is no economic sense in increasing the salaries of workers twenty fold, thereby ridiculing the naira. I am surprised that the government is even thinking in this direction. I am really afraid for this country and the so called advisers to the government. Imagine a situation where everyone is a millionaire and the price of every commodity starts in thousands of naira.

The figures are too high realistically say #100 to #150k, Government cannot pay anything more than 150k and that's fact, ABI they want make government begin owe salaries

I can bet with anything that FG will never pay more than 50k, while 90% of states will still struggle to pay 40k.

The best thing to do in this current situation is to increase it by 50% and reduce working hours for workers, like 2 or 3 days a week is fine.

If I am in Government, I would rather use this fund to subsidise foods and sponsor local manufacturing of imported goods than increasing salary of workers who are not upto 10% of entire working population. It is a pure waste of time because traders, manufacturers, farmers, artisans, builders, etc will not fold their arms withiout increasing the price of goods and services.

If Tinubu pays a 150k minimum wage, then just prepare your mind to buy a bottle of Coke for N5,000. The only way Tinubu can pay that amount is by printing more Naira, which would lead to more inflation. In the end, the poor will become significantly poorer since the 150k would be worthless.

The NLC is a worthless organisation.

Let’s focus more on achieving price stability rather than wage increase.

Trust retailers, immediately a new wage is approved, prices will soar to render the increase useless

Even a good quality T shirt goes for at least 20k these days.

Clothing alone shud be like 250k.

Food like 400k.

I don't know how people are thinking o.

But anything outside 1.5 million is nonsense
Re: Proposed Minimum Wage By NLC Across Geopolitical Zones by ojonwamama: 11:55pm On Mar 07
Any review on minimum wage that does not reflect on the wages of our Private sector workers is totally not accepted.

We have employers pay workers ( nurses, teachers, factory workers, sales persons, cleaners etc) as low as 10k, 15k monthly when the minimum wage is 30k.

While we call for an upward review of the minimum wage, the major review on minimum wage should be on its full implementation on both Private and public sector.

No worker in Nigeria should be paid anything less than the national minimum wage

Assuming that is even possible, given the state of things, the Economy will be flooded with too much money to sustain the new minimum wage and that will just drive ultra inflation...

That won't help matters at all.

The north will continue to be the poverty Head quarters in Nigeria. Look at one foolish state proposing 45 or 60 thousands. It is an insult to pay workers 45 k in a month. If your minimum wage cannot buy you a bag of rice then it a failed nation or State.
