The cost of a brand new prado jeep is more than 100million naira. Fed. Govt paid for each for senators, house of reps members, ministers, n other head of government agencies.
Don't be deceived F.G. has the money to pay but as usual what we will see is renewed shege.

The figures are too high realistically say #100 to #150k, Government cannot pay anything more than 150k and that's fact, ABI they want make government begin owe salaries

Asking. Negotiations will start from there. If they call 100k, FG will negotiate even lower, at the end of the day there would be no much benefit. I hope you get?

Bunch of jokers
Trying to use mind games with federal government.
By going so high they think government will now negotiate between 100 - 200k
But at the end of the day they won't get anything more than 50-60k.
Besides anything more than that is going to cause rebound inflation: once the traders see so much money in circulation, the prices of goods automatically skyrocket accordingly
Gather facts, don't just type. The FG already proposed 70k which NLC rejected.

From 30k to 150k is 500% increments.

Make Government sack 50% of them, how much dem dey generate to government pulse.
That's 400% increment not 500.

I can bet with anything that FG will never pay more than 50k, while 90% of states will still struggle to pay 40k.

The best thing to do in this current situation is to increase it by 50% and reduce working hours for workers, like 2 or 3 days a week is fine.

If I am in Government, I would rather use this fund to subsidise foods and sponsor local manufacturing of imported goods than increasing salary of workers who are not upto 10% of entire working population. It is a pure waste of time because traders, manufacturers, farmers, artisans, builders, etc will not fold their arms withiout increasing the price of goods and services.

Any review on minimum wage that does not reflect on the wages of our Private sector workers is totally not accepted.

We have employers pay workers ( nurses, teachers, factory workers, sales persons, cleaners etc) as low as 10k, 15k monthly when the minimum wage is 30k.

While we call for an upward review of the minimum wage, the major review on minimum wage should be on its full implementation on both Private and public sector.

No worker in Nigeria should be paid anything less than the national minimum wage
Facts, but you'll have to do more than merely commenting on nairaland.

It is not fantasy

That's why there is massive extensive large-scale corruption in civil service. Because the pay of workers is complete trash, very poor.

People with degrees and masters position in the civil service I am refering to. That's why they readily engage in corrupt sharp practices to shore up, augment their income so that they will be able to meet up financially and keep up with the joneses

I don't know how these so-called leaders could comfortably sleep at night with these things that are happening.

No Dey jonze yourself. Fabian Nwigbo is even the most realistic by quoting the lowest figures. Those demanding for those high figures are only playing to the gallery.

If minimum wage is close to a million naira, how much will those higher up earn? Has Nigeria suddenly become very wealthy?

Even the paltry 30k minimum wage, many states are yet to implement it. Very unserious country!

I've seen people of your type over here.
Who will reach a level and close the gate so no one will be on the same level as you.

You will struggle to make it, and when you make it, instead of you to help your brothers, you'd block road for others so you can pride yourself in the litany of the "OGA" praises.

Well done.

I think, it's good they started with such bogus amounts. It's a bargain. If they start at 100 to 150k, the government will still beat it down.

But as they started with such bogus amounts, by the time they are done with the negotiation, they will arrive at either 50k or 100-150k. So, it's a win win. It's all about applying wisdom.

This are the bulk of worker's needed for the Nation to move ahead.
780-800 k, for messengers who may not even be coming to work

D G will be like millions

How much will the commercial drivers charge

The mechanical and electrical engineers etc
70-100k is reasonable as minimum wage.
Re: Proposed Minimum Wage By NLC Across Geopolitical Zones by Aurelius1(m): 3:45am On Mar 08
Civil servants make up a tiny proportion of the Nigerian work force. It won't make sense for the new minimum wage to apply to them only. It should apply to both public and private workers.
Re: Proposed Minimum Wage By NLC Across Geopolitical Zones by 43Ronin: 4:12am On Mar 08
Its a noble gesture but it will only lead to super inflation. The govt should mop up those excess liquidity outside the banking sector, quickly address security challenges to allow farmers go back to farm and offer food stamps to d civil servants and part scholarships to their children. The govt must also reduce their own salary. Why should a sinator earn 15m per month but yet grumble about paying civil servants 540k it makes no sense

Labour should insist that every state must pay the previously agreed 30k first. Then we can start talking.
