I know meters are bypassed but that statistic is exaggerated ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Besides donโ€™t TCN, have mechanism or plans in place to stop this act if they already know how many percent of users bypassed mete they should have a way to trace those users and clamp ๐Ÿ—œ down on them

I don't support this, but indirectly, you guys are paying for the times you give people crazy bills without power supply or justification..
exactly, because when you get your metres you must pay those over estimated billing debts.

Even if this assertion true, it can easily be stopped by placing fines on offenders. Although phcn officials may also be backing these kind of illegal activities to pocket money meant for the company.

Don't they hang meters on electric poles? How do the customers do it if meters are hung on poles?

Not in all places. There are places where people's metres are installed in their houses. Even if your meter is hung on electric poles, people can alter them to stop working. Nigerians have criminal minds.

It is normal. How, when and where are they going to dividend on shares (money) with which they co owned and funding PHCN?
They buy electric poles, they buy and repair transformers , they buy wires and other expenses PHCN supposed to do themselves . So you expect them not to bypass to get back money invested in PHCN?

It is another excuse not to meter customers. Is it space science to meter every customer without them paying for meter and spreading the cost of the meter on the customer say over a year. Or is it that the whole world can not produce meter to service only 200 million person's. The greatest yahoo scheme in this country is the allocated billings scheme which they prefer to call estimated billings. In Nigeria, if you travel out of the country for say six months, you will be allocated maximum possible bill within this period even without you using a single watt. Nigerian government should stop encouraging big organisations to fleece the poor. The only way to improve power supply in Nigeria is to ensure every electricity user has prepaid meter and this is the easiest thing any organisation can do if they want to.

If truely, DISCO have issues with power theft, they should train and convert all their personnel whose job is to disconnect customers or collect bribe from them to become energy theft check personnel once everybody is on prepaid meter.

Sometimes I wonder if people think from their behind. Does he expect everyone of 230 million to be registered and have a meter? Majority of our population is under 18 and likely living with parents or under someone . Households in Nigeria are estimated to be 43 million with majority in rural areas.

Some are installed on the pole because of bypass issue but the older ones are installed inside the compound.
Re: 60% Of Metered Customers Bypass Meters, Says TCN by AerialMapper: 7:46am On Mar 08
Even if this were true, it is reflective of the low willingness to pay for what people perceive is a useless service.

People would rather bypass their meters and use the money to fuel their power generators than trap funds on meters because the utility companies cannot supply constant power. Improve power supply and see whether the instances of meter bypass increases or decreases.. Then you can discern whether the issue is the unwillingness to pay or the inability to pay!

For now... Accept meter bypass as the consequence of your useless service

That's not 100% correct. Bypass is only possible with the old phcn prepaid metres. Modern metres have sensors installed in them making it impossible to bypass as it will trigger an alarm that is very high and disturbing immediately it is tampered with.
what he is saying is ๐Ÿ’ฏ correct,I know a lot of house that does that, they have meters but their power consumption is not read directly from the meter
