247man:WTF......to that man saying UK has shortage of healthcare workers, see the scope they are using here. Well planned by them |

IMAliyu:and i just read someone's comment where he says, even students that are finishing and transitioning to Care visa, they are telling their dependants to go back home, the only way out if for the dependant to go look for his or her own care visa or other job sponsorship visa(which i understand are scarce), shey u see say dem dun calculate as shortage of healthcare workers no go dey. |
| Re: UK Bans Overseas Health Workers From Bringing Dependants by obaidan: 8:21pm On Mar 11, 2024 |
YoshihideSuga:they want those ones to go and look for their own care jobs so there wont be shortage. Its all well planned. So that dependant working in IT on his wife's care visa, will have to go look for his own care job that will sponsor him |

obaidan:Well... that may be the case, that 300 was just a batch, there were more in 6 months. 1500 visas were issued to just Naigeerians to come in for healthcare work, now, imagine the 1500 Naigeerian workers brings in 3 or more of their family members each. |

OlujobaSamuel:At the bolded, how can they save when the salaries are majorly low and bills high, saving is nearly impossible. If you calculate the effort to make one pound sterling. you will understand it is blood and sweat. And sadly the price of those properties in Nigeria has gone up and not within reach. |

MT:True.. the UK will milk them with taxes. |
| Re: UK Bans Overseas Health Workers From Bringing Dependants by MT: 8:40pm On Mar 11, 2024 |
247man:No. It doesn't affect people that are already in the system. Those that are already in the system can still bring in their dependants. |
| Re: UK Bans Overseas Health Workers From Bringing Dependants by 247man: 9:23pm On Mar 11, 2024 |
Calitoscassius:Check migrant D and F scenarios. You will see in D that dependents of students cant switch if application is made after march 10, also in F if the dependent become main applicant and applies after march 10,d student can’t switch with the dependent. Same scenario but vice versa. What they want now is dependent must have his or her own cos. But everything is silent of child dependents. As time goes on, it will ne clearer.

Misinformation. Only care workers are affected, as much as I can see from that story. Doctors and nurses are not affected. GOV.UK is your friend. |

Thank God for this guy o. He n hi 6 year old daughter just joined the wife in UK last week. She left since last year. She had to abandon her govt nursing work here. Oh God thank you. It won't have been good. |
| Re: UK Bans Overseas Health Workers From Bringing Dependants by 247man: 9:42pm On Mar 11, 2024 |
seunayantokun:Yes correct. Only carers and support workers on code 6145 and 6146 are affected. This is because it is d main job people do to get COS without any special qualifications (just show u can care for people). It is d easiest route for masters graduates to get COS before they settle on the profession of their choice ( after completing the COS period). |

| Re: UK Bans Overseas Health Workers From Bringing Dependants by MT: 12:11am On Mar 12, 2024 |
247man:Once you are stuck for 5 years on a job, it has become your career. You wont have time to pursue any other things. Care work is intense, draining and frustrating with 12-hour shift. Changing career will be almost mission impossible after 5 years |
| Re: UK Bans Overseas Health Workers From Bringing Dependants by 247man: 12:55am On Mar 12, 2024 |
MT:People do very well. Getting certifications from their desired skills and doing online courses. Once they get ILR, they move to the sector. Even if to start again. They can still do care by the side though. Since they are no more tied to any COS. but i know someone who loves d care job. As in that is what she wants to do. She even wants to open a care home when she comes back to nigeria to settle. Her passion is taking care of the old before they pass on and ensuring they are happy in their last days. |

obaidan: I get it. It's their country, their rule. Though, I do see a lot of single ladies partying every weekend in UK getting drunk. On a lighter note, maybe they only want migrants who are young and single in their country. |
| Re: UK Bans Overseas Health Workers From Bringing Dependants by 9japride(m): 6:16am On Mar 12, 2024 |
COMPAQ: Yea I know, they still had to study to become health workers either through a short course or a full degree. They should employ their youths to do care giving jobs That job is not easy and it's not everyone that has the mind to do it. |

247man:On paper, people can change jobs after ILR, in reality it is tough. How can someone working 12-hour shift be able to prepare for another career. Someone that has immersed himself in care job for 5 years, its not as easy as you think . Moreso, getting ILR is not automatic having spent 5 years in the UK. Some people have applied for a visitors visa with different information from what they use to get COS. Uk didn't do due diligence then but trust me, when it comes to ILR, they will seriously vet the application. |
