While millions of imo indigenes are running to PH, Onitsha and Enugu to live in search of greener pasture, while Owerri has nothing to show except brothels, ashawos and dilapidated infrastructures. Even imo state indigenes rather build manufacturing companies that will give people genuine employment at PH, Onitsha and Enugu than ever build it and in imo state but would build brothels in Owerri for the breeding commercial se.x hawkers . Imo state is a failed state .

area R new owerri

After Area R to Z, Owerri begins AA, AB, AC ..new areas for sale of lands and urban expansion.
Uninformed Imo govs from Orlu zone who believe that state capital must be built to "international standard" (Rochas), or to "designers delight," (Uzodinma), follow up and use the federal allocations of the state and local govt areas of Imo to provide roads and other amenities in the new AA, AB, AC, etc. areas in Owerri. Other towns in Imo state are completely abandoned to die off. The allocations of the LGAs used by govs from Orlu zone to build only Owerri, either because the govs from Orlu zone are not from Orlu urban LGA or they have an axe to grind against some persons from Orlu urban LGA. REST OF IMO STATE SUFFER THE ABANDONEMENT.

The cycle continues unended since 2007.

Enugu had tens of kilometers more for urban expansion, yet Enugu people mandated the last gov of Enugu state, gave the gov a sort of blanket cheque to provide or improve the inner roads of Nsukka and build other devt projects in Nsukka. The gov did just that.

Abia state capital, Umuahia, is yet to expand even 1/10th of Owerri city expansion, yet Umuahia people keep calm as gov Otti revamps Aba.

Primitive greed of Owerri people coupled to the bad minds of govs from Orlu and Okigwe zones since 2007 has reduced Imo state to become an affair of Owerri and its natives

What you are shouting here is the absolute truth and need to be urgently addressed or there may be problems in Imo state soon. Other states have more than one city but in Imo state Owerri and it's people have swallowed everything. It will soon choke them in their throat. Even where the oil that's bringing the federal allocation to Imo state are also left to rot. This greed by Owerri people must stop forthwith.

Owerri is hanging on a keg of gunpowder. How can Orlu and Okigwe zones return to the 18th century in Imo state because of past actions of people of Owerri zone in seizing all govt infrastructutes of devt?

Even the oil producing areas of Imo state are starved to remain ultra rural status, ISOPADEC hqtrs was built in Owerri; while the 13% derivation is lavished on expansion of Owerri and builduing useless flyovers where they are not needed in Owerri, junctions where roundabouts or traffic lights are better needed than flyovers; knocing down the best urban drainage system of Owerri built by Mbakwe, start to build what they call balloon drainage system while floods carry people and homes in Orlu and elsewhere every rain season. And the govs tell thrnselves they are fighting unseen enemies of yesterday in some part of the state; therefore would not do any development outside Owerri.
Bottomline, a mix of ignorant political leaders and greedy people of Owerri has set 80% land mass of Imo state either standstill or backward by decades.

The real problem is not even Owerri people but the zombies and dummies we have had as governors in Imo, after late Dee Mbakwe. No greedy Owerri people could stand in the way of any governor who has the will power to pay equal attention given to Owerri to Okigwe and Orlu. No Owerri person would dare stand in the way of executive might NEVER. So the problem is with the zombies we have had as governors who believes that a whole state of Imo starts and ends only in Owerri not just Owerri people.

I was trying to figure out why rural areas do have dusty roofs

One would argue the presence of trees would have served as a buffer

Without the trees it would be 20x worst. There's a lot of construction and that has accumulated over time. look at the newer ones in the same photo

They're all very beautiful, that is why Owerri is the most liveable and modern city in the SE, arguably Nigeria if not for Lagos + Abuja

I am happy you posted this yourself Ikengawo, it further proves what we have been saying that Owerri is a slum and a glorified village. Muddy rustic village . No wonder most imo indigenes prefer to live in Onitsha and Enugu, but you can never find other igbos living in Owerri . Shame . Hahahaha

Ezemuo was seen praising his master (Hope) yesterday in owerri when he visited the new 5k capacity ICC under construction, the building is at the roofing level now. Honestly the new one is far better and beautiful than what rochas did before, very solid and modern it will give that area very beautiful look when completed.
