You can make your point politely, no need to curse.
Nigeria has dry season in the North, transmigration of animals seasonally is a well described phenomenon, even in the wild.
Only way cow meet has subsidy in Nigeria/Africa is because they roam to feed.
If you tie down a cow to feed till maturity, the cheapest cow in the market will be 5 million naira minimum.
So herding actually benefits all of us, however these has increased clashes with farmers, which we can get together and find a solution to.

See i didn't curse or abuse you smiley.
Learn to talk like that.

Cow meat is subsidized?

And you said I should not curse you?

Many states have put anti-grazing laws running meaning they don't want grazing cows, why not respect them?

I don't see any other argument here, you know the truth, but you want to be mischievous.

Those northern states during dry season have very good government maintained agricultural irrigation systems, good fertiliser supply and access to produce vegetables such as lettuce, cabbage, all round vegetable supply, cereals such as millet, just last week the wheat harvest was shown; we know grass or hay can be recycled all year round via same practice, it will even attract more revenue for states where they are situated and development, many countries are doing it, let me say Argentina or so.

You see that thing in you people's mind, we in the south east know and it will never happen, not when this generation is alive.

Thank you.

You see I didn't curse you too.

My friend the cost of feeding a cow in the dry season when there is no grass is expensive.
The only way these herdsmen can afford it is to graze down south to greener pastures
If they stay in the north all through dry season, one cow will be minimum 5 million naira, because they had to be buying food for the cow.
People are complaining about chicken feed being expensive talkless of cow. Chicken grows in 9 weeks.
Cow can take 2-3 years to mature. If you buy cow feed for 3 years every dry season that cow will be 5 million when its time to sell it.
I hope you understand now.

With irrigation, their feed can be grown by the herders. We have many dams across the country that can make that easy.

Also, working in alliance with farmers, some agricultural waste is convertible to food for the cows. That's how it's done in other places.

You cannot irrigate feed cows in dry season ?
Are you educated ?
I said dry season....cost of irrigation in dry season , enough to grow grass to feed cows is astronomical
1 Cow can eat a whole football field in one dry season, you want to irrigate 2 million football fields ? 1 cow will cost 20 million naira when its ready to sell.
You think irrigation is free ? or cheap in the dry season ?

Those chanting farmers/herders clashes aare evil doers. If farmers were equally armed like the fulani terrorists then it would make sense to say they clashed. Terrorists were freely supported to arm themselves with sophisticated weaponry and kill and kidnap without being brought to book, and some people would come up with farmers vs herders clashes nonsense. Nigeria is compromised.

The noises that should be going on everyday everywhere in Nigeria now should be clamours for state and local council policing.

You need to change, because the way you think in this post is just too wicked. It is not bad, please, to read widely to know how to talk about this cattle business in public. Your justification for cattle herding as practised during the stone age says too much about you and leaves a bad ache in the heart of a reasonable person.

Stay in the North and sell your wretched cows for 5m.

You must think everyone is a fool. You are using Taqiyya, you think we are not aware.

You and the people you defend are only moving cows under the guise of conquest, to fulfill the expansionist agenda of your wretched fore father Othman Dan Fodio.

We know exactly what it is. We will never ever fall for your tricks.

Find out how other nations of the world have made a success of cow breeding without having to kill farmers and destroy other people's farms and properties. There's always a way to solve a problem that relates to nature if we try hard enough.
The former Western Region had ranches which produced dairy products and beef. We had fresh bottled milk in Ibadan daily up to the early 70s. The military era killed that dream. Farm settlements existed too and never got invaded by the cows which were well cared for.

Farmers and herders issues were permanently resolved in other nations, why is it impossible here?

Why didn't herders key into the initiative of Dr Ganduje who tried to set up a proper expansive ranch in a forest in Kano? If more forests are properly developed and managed, we'll have less criminals using such places as hideouts and farmers can be settled nearby. Some farming waste is good enough food for cows after harvest plus they can grow suitable grass for cows commercially. That's added value. I think a State in the North has a way of doing that...maybe Bauchi or Jigawa.

Why do we dwell on cow matters only? Who provides food for poultry and fish farmers?

Good points. America plants corn to feed its cow....cows in America are expensive.
Brazil feeds its cow in the amazon forest.
Nigeria, even the human beings dont have enough corn to eat.
The migration paths used be the herders also happen to be the farms, bring forward a solution.....the whole country is looking for a solution, easy to cast blames.

You can google that website and read up on ..."Inside Nyandarua Farm with 250 dairy cows producing 60,000 litres on cheap feed."
That's my wish and prayer for Northern herders. It's more money and healthier, better nourished cows.

I couldn't copy it here.
