Nice initiative. I hope the marketers not find a way to circumvent the process.
That's my only fear. And I pray they don't politicise it
Re: "Ounje Eko" Food Markets Open Across Lagos From Sunday by Dsimmer:
Good one from Sanwo Olu. Nice initiative. It will also help to curb inflation.

Lagos government can also invest in several agro industries. Imagine having several agro industries with their processing plants for garri, cassava flour, cooking oil, Flours, glucose/syrup etc..

Let him claim it …. You are among those who are saying people are hungry, now government has come with a good plan to reduce it and you are still complaining. Haba not that you are better than them in policy making.

It’s really not 25% but closer to 40% of current market rate.

Jewessgratitud3:
25% is too small considering the current rate and prices of commodities. undecided. 50% would have been a lot fairer.

They didn't even fix any location around our axis.

Let's see how this goes.

If I know Nigerians well, they will hijack it for their own selfish greed.

You go reach there dem go tell you say, rice don finish. Na man know man levels e go come be and they will still sell it over the discount.

Anything worth "gift" or discount is fair enough, there is no law or legislation that compels "50%" Also remember there is no such provision in the budget

No offense, but many of Una need to really travel to experience good governance, you fit insult me, but I bet you all need to, inflation hit uk, they increased minimum wages, lower taxes. It’s not rocket science, and these governors, earn more than prime Minister with the stealing too.

when Dr Ayodele Fayose did something better than this notice me arangee qwashi+cumtum that will cause stampedes. you people branded it stomach infrastructure. what will you call this now? mediocrity runs in APC and its gullible followers blood.
What fayose did is completely different, there is stomach infrastructure and there is palliative
Palliative measures is a world generally accept measures to cushion hardship for affected citizens, while

Stomach infrastructure is tantamount to vote buying, the politicians give the people things freely in return for there VOTE.

Good as it may seems, this is not the best for Nigerians. Why impoverished the people only to feed them like slaves.
Government should focus on fixing the basic needs like security, accessible electricity etc and watch if people will cry of hunger.

It's a Machiavellian principle that requires taking the basic needs from people until they reach breaking point, then give it back in trickles.

It's evil and sinister.

The gradual almajirization of the richest state in Nigeria is now in full motion. Funny enough, this won't even scratch the surface of the humongous hunger in the land. The knowlede of why USSR failed isn't known in Nigeria. No government no matter how rich is capabale of of feeding her entire population unless if the population is very small. This is why doing the right things at the right time to ensure people can easily make ends meet for themselves remains the best. Even at that some humans will still fall short and that is when government can step in to provide some support for the few that fall short.
Looting of public funds, pauperizing the population so you can enslave them is demonic. Only devilish people act like that. God who created man made provisions for him and still gave him the freedom to choose what he wants. However, some demonic humans want to control what other humans choose for themselves. Now, see the result. Slowly but surely we are getting there.

Another subsidy that will later backfire.
Why not use the huge sum to support farmers loans, grants, free fertilizers and tell them to make food more available at affordable prices.

This is why your governors in South East don't rate you guys, one governor is taking responsibility to provide food for his people but you focus on federal government because of tribalism while your governors do nothing.

Una m.u.m.u for that side of the country is legendary.

Thanks for the clarification. So the open market help can to some extent then. Atleast extra derika of rice (that's saving around 1,000 naira) won't be bad sha.
