The president has issued a statement on the killing of soldiers in Okuama.

STATEMENT BY H.E. PRESIDENT BOLA TINUBU ON THE KILLING OF NIGERIAN SOLDIERS ON A PEACE MISSION TO OKUAMA COMMUNITY IN DELTA STATE

STATEMENT ON THE KILLING OF NIGERIAN SOLDIERS ON A PEACE MISSION TO OKUAMA COMMUNITY IN DELTA STATE

On Saturday morning, the Nigerian people and I woke up to the dreadful news of the unprovoked killing of our brave military personnel during a rescue mission in Okuama Community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The incident occurred on Thursday, March 14, 2024, when our troops, responding to a crisis between Okuama and Okoloba communities in Delta State, were ambushed. A Commanding Officer, two Majors, one Captain, and twelve soldiers sadly lost their lives. One civilian was also killed.

As the Commander-in-Chief, I join all well-meaning Nigerians and the men and women of our armed forces to mourn and express my profound grief over the needless death of our gallant soldiers.

I extend my profound condolences to the families of these fallen soldiers, their
colleagues, and atiOdthihseiirrICid‘Vt°7117: cToh:aTdillytWehnictir7sZnnsciibilseaf already heinous crime will not go unpunished.
This incident, once again, demonstrates the dangers faced by our servicemen and women in the line of duty. I salute their heroism, courage, and uncommon grit and patriotism.
Asa nation, we must constantly remember and honour all those who have paid the ultimate price to keep our nation safe, strong, and united.

My government will not relent until we achieve peace and tranquillity in every part of Nigeria.
May God continue to bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria and keep members of our armed forces safe.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu President 8. Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria

17th March 2024.

Are you saying this was the initial plan?

Maybe these news about killing soldiers may even be propaganda?

See beyond this.

If things aint properly handled, The water boys can decide to start blowing up petrol pipelines. We will definitely not be able to meet OPEC export quotient.

The economy cannot withstand any shockwave at the moment. So many people will die of hunger.

They should fish out the culprits and bring them to justice. Not these rash and uncoordinated reactions.

What really baffles me is the happiness and joy expressed by some people here over the death of our gallant soilders.

All the culprits must be fished out. Kudos to Mr President. Nobody will be allowed to destabilise our nation.

So sad

But no word for the innocent people caught up in the crossfire, whose livelihood, houses, and villages have been burned down by the soldiers who are on a reprisal attack.

Is the president not aware of it?

Why not give Police the order to investigate this since the Army is a part to this fight?

I don't know how African leaders think.

But nigerian army can never try this in any northern state. Northern elites will never let that happen. Nigeria army should have gone in searcg of the terrorists instead of burning innocent peoples houses
