Can someone confirm if the Anambra commissioner for environment has instituted a schedule for the weekly sweeping of major Onitsha streets? And if he hasn’t, what exactly is keeping him from doing this!?

There should also be a landscaping team charged with greening up all open public spaces and patches of bare ground next to the roadsides! See how Julius Berger take the time to beautify the surroundings of their newly constructed roads, flyovers and bridges with nice carpet grass!

I can confirm that Enugu town needs more street sweeping and general cleaning as the former eastern capital slides into filth. You need to go to Enugu and see how dirty that place has become.

I agree! Enugu city has deteriorated environmentally too! The downward spiral started with Ugwuanyi…though has slightly improved a bit with the coming of Mbah! You don’t see as many mounds of refuse pilling up on the roadsides like was the case during the Ugwuanyi era! Though, my major problem with sanitation in Enugu is that they only seem to be concerned with Independence Layout…especially in and around the gov’t house area! Everywhere else seems to be ‘every man for himself’! Agbani road in particular could do with a good cleanup! The road is always strewn with rubbish!

Kai! This picture sweet me to see Fegge Portharcout road fixed, the last time I was there it was terrible, keke people bath me with mud water. Life brewery side be this. If Fegge is fixed because alot of people comes in from Bendel through Bridge -head ogbo-shishi to Main market Onitsha, the bad road gives a bad impression of Anambra state. But I won't lie I love this. Soludo I used to think you're "Ojionu" although you stated late, but it's better than non, fire down.

I take back all I said about soludo's lack of focus!! 3 projects of his administration have reawakened my belief in him.......The okpoko inner roads and the solution fun city project! I had my doubts about the commissioner of works capacity but Egnr okonma is a sound engineer! I must admit Anambrafirstson was right,,,,we really did not appreciate the sheer volume of work the administration has carried out in the last 24 months! I must say Otti and Soludo are almost neck and neck in the amount of work they have done in 10 months and 24 months respectively.............at last ndigbo can look forward to doing business at home!

I wish Soludo and Alex Otti could work together in galvanizing other governors to kickstart the Eastern Regional Railway Network

Instead of waiting for the Federal Government to build railways for us, which is very unlikely to happen in 100 years, we can help ourselves by doing what is needed to reduce the cost and stress of moving goods and services within the region.

Here's the plan: We'll create a company called the "Eastern Corridor Railways Corporation (ECRC)" to build a regional railway line. Which is separate from the national Port Harcourt to Maiduguri Nigerian railway line. The Southeast and South-South Governors will work together to get permission from the Federal Government for the Eastern Regional Railway Network project.

Each state that benefits from the railway will invest 1% of its budget into the company. This money will help get the project started, and in return, the states will receive shares in the company.

Next, we'll invite foreign companies to bid on the construction work. They'll build the railway using a PPP (Public-Private Partnership) arrangement, where they'll invest their own money and operate the railway for 100 years before transferring it back to us.

By following these steps, we can make this project a reality and improve economic activity in our regions. Just imagine being able to travel from Calabar to Onitsha or Port Harcourt in a comfortable, air-conditioned train in just a few hours. Or transporting goods from Afikpo to Port Harcourt without worrying about bad roads or police harassment.

If the railway is less than 1,000 kilometers long, the total cost should be less than $1 billion. We can finance this through loans from organizations like the World Bank and China Exim Bank. A five-year plan with $200 million each year seems like a reasonable timeframe.

This Regional Railway Masterplan and the use of the oil and gas resources in each of these states to support modular refineries and gas powerplants like Geometric are the ONLY projects that will bring prosperity to the region in particular and Nigeria in general.

Exporting crude oil will never bring prosperity to Nigeria. I believe a new government that is development-minded at both the federal and state levels is now in place in Nigeria to facilitate this project. Hopefully, those who want Nigeria to truly prosper will finally work towards making this project happen soon.

Meet Nelson Emeka from Awka in Anambra State, Nigeria. He's the inventor of a Generator that is fuelled by water. The 22 years old with no University qualification built this water powered Generator from the scratch with scrap materials he got from dustbins.

Can we make this brain go viral...

If this is a new technology, then the state gov't should help get it patented! Emeka should also personally try to reach out to coys in the US and Europe and see if he can market himself and his invention to them directly!

The powers that be that support the global energy and fossil industry will delete that chap in a second! I read about what happened to the world's most gifted inventor and engineer Nikola Tesla ...I became terrified of the white man! I heard that Tesla invented a means of transmitting electrical energy via radio waves...........over hundreds of kilometers.........they darn nearly killed him!

I like the way every inch of setback is paved between the buildings and the road......soil and sand accumulation will be reduced on this stretch of road! Government should make it mandatory for residents to either pave or grass all open soil on road set backs.........and of course demolish all illegal shade projections and attachments to houses and walls............thankfully Awka capital authority is beginning to enforce these laws!
