There was a time, a few hundred years ago, when a woman could damn near bare her nipples while wearing a fine gown in high society, but didn’t dare show… her ankles. Not a glimpse of an ankle dared to be seen. Far too racy, you know. Drives men completely out of their minds.

They were most daring about how low the bodices/corsets could be cut, of course, in the French courts, quelle surprise. Mais, it wasn’t just France, similar ideas were found through most of Europe at the time.

How many people blink at seeing a woman’s bare ankle today?

Well it's simple, Availability Influences Value.
psychologically, we are programmed to use availability as a measure for value.
If something is abundant, we find it less valuable and when something is scarce, we attach more value to it.
