No One Has Answered This Question About The Fulani by babasolution: 6:19pm On Mar 25 |
In the study of the archives of Nigerian history written by the British colonial officers,it is clear that the Fulani were on the ascendancy in Nigeria till the British put a stop to their ascendancy. The Fulani were winning all their wars coming down south, they had virtually the whole north in their hands safe for the igbirra zone and the igala zone( who were shielded by the royal Niger company). Could they have conquered the zones of the south say Benin or the igbos zones, they terrorised the Yoruba severely but we're unable to capture beyond Ilorin. The question which no one has answered till date is,what made the Fulani so successful in their wars in the Nigerian territory, they took over all Hausa kingdoms ( every single one of them),took over the Nupe, gwari, destroyed panda, igu of the ebira kwoto, destroyed the jukuns, and harid and enslaved numerous tribes in the north, they destroyed kanuri kingdoms. Why were the Fulani so successful in warfare. Only the igbirra and ogori did not fall to the Fulani in the whole north were they attacked. |

babasolution:Fulanis never destroyed the Kanuri kingdom/empire. I hope you know there's something called the Kanem Borno empire. Though, the Kanuris were forced to retreat initially, they eventually reclaimed what they lost. This is why till date, the fulanis respect the Kanuris more than any other group in the north. 14 Likes 1 Share |

babasolution: If you attack, you will be surprised how far you can go until you're stopped. Most of the Jihads were actually revolutions. Or people from the ground (mainly hausa) overthrowing their leaders. They were stopped by groups (Jukun, Tiv, Igala, Ebira, Kanuri) in the middle belt who were much smaller and weaker than Igbo, Edo, Yoruba and Igala. Further, they relied on horses which would be severly limited in the south and they didn't have an entrenched presence in the south which they used to spark the revolutions and revolts. The Jihad succeeded where it had local cooperation like in the Hausa states and Ilorin By the time the british got invovled they had gone as far as they possibly could and the Jihad was over 14 Likes 1 Share |

Fulani hid under religion to take over lands. That was what they did in the north and other places claimed to have been conquered by them. They came in first to introduce Islam especially in areas that hadn't been islamised. Once they got a handful converts of the local they used those converts to overthrow the leadership they met on ground to install their emir. They couldn't do this in Bornu because Bornu was already Islamised before their arrival. 18 Likes 2 Shares |

You have your anwers above... However, the decline of Fulani influence would have occurred had it not been for the significant discovery of crude oil in Nigerian territory. 1 Like |

babasolution: The fulani only succeeded with the hausas and no more...!! The rest where out of their reach hence you don't see them install Emir....anywhere the fulani take they install Emir..!! As for the ebira and igala people, they were never shielded by any Royal Niger company, they are warriors in their own right and also good with Black magic and so could not have been able to be conquered...!! Infact the igalas defeated all the fulani soldiers that came close to their borders upto Abaji area cos they the igalas where controlling those territories...!! The igalas even have watch towers and fobs around koto karfe zone that alerts the kingdom anytime the fulani tries to make any incursion...!!! Apart from the ebira and igalas the fulani didn't succeed in conquering other minority tribes in the Middle Belt...infact in those days it is suicide for any fulani to step feet around the Plateau area..!! The only people the fulani succeeded with are the hausas in Nigeria and right now they are beginningto also wake up and take their rightfull place...!!! 6 Likes 1 Share |

babasolution:Even the Ilorin they captured was by the betrayal of the Military man Oyo (AFJ) posted to the town and by another influential Muslim convert (Solagberu of Oke Suna). They stopped making attempts after the war in Oshogbo. 4 Likes

This is a chest-beating thread from a fulani who thinks they own Nigeria. Just pray that what happened in Rwanda won't happen in Nigeria, it will be real Nigerians versus Fulanis, then you will stop this your chest-beating. No way will Fulanis have been able to conquer southern Nigeria, keep that in your mind. 1 Like |

babasolution: The fulanis had a good administrative and well organized army 💯. The British attested to this and that's why indirect rule worked in northern Nigeria off course after the bloody fall of sokoto caliphate battle. N.B: Fulanis never conquered kanuris, kanuris are tough warlords too. Kanem Borno empire was a no go area and still a no go area for fulanis. 2 Likes |

Floky215: Going by records of the British, unless you are claiming it is false, the royal Niger company actually prevented the Fulani from launching attacks on igalaland, cos the British were based at lokoja then, the Fulani had already overtaken the Nupe( who are not Hausa's) so you are wrong that they took only the Hausa's. They destroyed the okun Yoruba, destroyed the ebira koto in koto karfe, they only could not destroy the igbirra Tao and ogori( helped by hilly terrain), they destroyed the gwari, who fled leading to influx of refugees to the igala zone ,that's why there are bassa komo and bassa nge in the igala zone, they forced the jukun to pay tribute, they forced plateau tribes to pay tribute. |
Re: No One Has Answered This Question About The Fulani by babasolution: 10:55am On Mar 26 |
id4sho: The Fulani actually did, check the records, though the kanuri later re launched against them and won,but the Fulani had already inflicted serious damage to the kanem borno |
Re: No One Has Answered This Question About The Fulani by babasolution: 10:58am On Mar 26 |
PROPEACE: They forced these tribes to pay tribute, they were raided for SLAVES, these tribes didn't have central administration like the Hausa's,that is why the Fulani didn't impose their rule but instead exerted tribute and slaves |
Re: No One Has Answered This Question About The Fulani by babasolution: 11:07am On Mar 26 |
Floky215: Ordinary bassa nge,who were running from enslavement by the Fulani defeated the igalas, it's only the igalas that were protected by the royal Niger company stationed at lokoja not the igbirra, the Fulani raided and destroyed the abaji, nasarawa zone and set up two kingdoms in keffi and nasarawa toto,. |
Re: No One Has Answered This Question About The Fulani by id4sho(m): 11:19am On Mar 26 |
babasolution:I disagree by your submission that the plateau tribes paid tribute. Plateau is a rocky terrain unless you mean the lowlands which is 20% |
