Only thing that gave and still giving the Fulani power in Nigeria is the cowardice of the Hausa people. They overran the Hausa people with utmost ease and used their population to invade and conquer others. They didn't just make the Hausa's their vassals but they took over their land and kingdoms

One thing is common with the fulanis and that is destruction and terror using their religion. They learnt it from their arab masters

Going by records of the British, unless you are claiming it is false, the royal Niger company actually prevented the Fulani from launching attacks on igalaland, cos the British were based at lokoja then, the Fulani had already overtaken the Nupe( who are not Hausa's) so you are wrong that they took only the Hausa's.
They destroyed the okun Yoruba, destroyed the ebira koto in koto karfe, they only could not destroy the igbirra Tao and ogori( helped by hilly terrain), they destroyed the gwari, who fled leading to influx of refugees to the igala zone ,that's why there are bassa komo and bassa nge in the igala zone, they forced the jukun to pay tribute, they forced plateau tribes to pay tribute.

The Okun Yorubas still have Obas not Emirs.
Even the Ilorin emirate exists only because the British forcefully allowed that to stand even though the Oyos won back Ilorin. All towns outside Ilorin like Omupo, Offa, Ajase Ipo, Jebba etc have their Obas till today.

This the reason Ndigbo must be very wary and careful with igbo Muslims.

Don't worry about that. We have always defended against their evil and we always will.

Go check the records, okun Yoruba did not have any significant town worth ruling, they were a source of tributes and slaves.

Same for the igbomina areas, they were raided for tribute and slaves

The records are there don't take my word for it.

The Fulani after they took over Hausa kingdoms were no more interested in emirship, they just wanted tribute, even the Nupe kingdom that they took over, the ruler is called etsu and not emir.
Forget about this emir thing.

Emirship was not a must for the Fulani.

They were more interested in tribute n slaves

Even the northern Edo kingdoms were they took over they never imposed emirship,

Auchi in Edo were Islamised but they don't have emir but otaru title.

Attacked where launched and roundly defeated at the igala state boundaries which stretch upto Abaji..!!

Again I say, the fulani would have never ever conquered the igalas and ebiras...!!

Nobody ever pay any tribute to the fulanis...It was the jukuns the igalas were paying tribute to and at a time refused and it resulted into war which the igala won...it was a costly war cos the then attah had to sacrifice his daughter alive..!!

Koto karfe was under the influence of the igalas and was part of attah's territory stretching upto Abaji and like I wrote earlier the igalas even have watch towers and fobs there...!!

Never for once have the fulani ever conquered the ebira koto people..!!

Again the only people the fulani succeeded with were the hausas and it was achieved greatly by deceit...!! The hause was listening to usman Dan fodio who came in the guise of a preacher and turned the heart of the talaka hausas against their leader, overthrew them and instead of replacing them with other hausa sarki, he instead installed fulani emirs...!!

Infact if you must know, Usman dan fodio started his deceitful sojourn in Borno, but they saw through him and what he was trying to do and was chased away and he ended up in Sokoto...!!

The rest is history today...!!

Bassa nge who were running away from Fulani defeated the igalas, is it Fulani that would not have been able?

Mind you,at that time, the igalas were severely weakened by internal strife.

The igalas at completely lost all their power by 1800, just like Benin.

Igbirra were help by their hilly terrain, and unity
