You are naive. Priests abroad are steadily used by security agencies. I agree this is fake because his crime is not worth snitching on. Go and confess to a priest in UK that you're on interpol list of wanted persons and see if you won't get caught right there in the church.

Have you not read John 20:22. Where Christ after His resurrection, appeared to His Apostles breathed saying Recieve the Holy Spirit, whoever sin you forgive are forgiven whoever sin you retain are retained....

So how else will the priest who are successors of the Apostolic be able to carry on the Ministry of Christ without hearing the sin first

Catholic priests can never reveal what they heard in a confession even if its the most heinous crime.

If a priests dares do it, he'll be excommunicated from the church with immediate effect.

That's why sacrament of confession is a very safe space.

And for those asking why confess to a priest, Jesus himself gave the instruction to confess to a sinful men when he gave sinful apostles power to forgive sin in John 20

Not confessing to a priest is in fact disobeying God's law who gave you the part for the forgiveness of sins through those he gave the power (ordained priests)
